AS5 is much easier to clean off than the earlier versions of it. Alcohol does the job fine in my experience. AS2/3 were somewhat resistant to alcohol.

But yeah the type of paste barely matters. Just get a 22g syringe of Ceramique for cheap and be happy.

Also, I have a K6-2 350 (not 333 duh).

And this is why you always check what CPU is under the hood +D

I took the P4 Gateway motherboard out of the Gateway 1400 Performance. Power supply is dated 23 week of 01.

So I put in a EPoX MVP3G-M with K6-III 400 cpu with sink and fan.

But I cant find where to connect the front panel power switch to the motherboard.

There is nothing that matches the pins on the P4 Gateway motherboard.

Please Help!

Power Supply is an Antec ATX250 from 2001.

Does the Gateway case have 1 big plug for the front panel thingies?
If so, you'll have no choice but to do something about that.

Also, the front panel thingies on the Epox should be right in the manual.

Ive only got one power button on the front panel, and about 5 wires twisted coming from it to one biggish plug with about 12 connection holes in it, though only 5 wire enter.

I tried to download the manual from EPoX, but got stumped with requests for passwords or something to do with ftp, (a protocol Im not that familiar with).

I think Ive wittled the CRTs down to Gateway VX1120 or VX920.

But Im going to get a Viewsonic VX922 first, which has a TN panel, 10ms real response time across the board, 1280x1024 native resolution.

Having tried to mount a board in a (btw nice looking) Gateway case, I decided to just break up the large connector into smaller pieces with a pair of scissors. I'm sure there are better ways, but it worked for me.
About the manual, maybe th99 has something?

I'll go have a look...

Edit: Have you tried the Epox main site? I guess so, as I also had trouble with it asking for a login?
At any rate, how bout you tell us next time what you've tried so we don't have to guess?

Anything printed on the PCB btw?

The Gateway Performance 1400 case has nice quick release everything it seems like.

Drive Bays
Side Access Panel
Add On Cards
Power Supply

Pretty Cool.

I see Power printed on the top row all the way to the right, and LED printed on the mainboard beside that.

Below is the connector coming from the power switch on the front panel. Sorry for the bad pics.

Ive got the ATX case blues.

I was looking to pick up an Aopen HX45 case, but it didnt work out for me, someone snagged it before I did research on it and decided to get it. It has the appropriate power connectors from the front plate for the motherboard.

So I picked up this Abit BX6 Rev. 2 board with Pentium II and assorted goodies, and it has a power switch with twisted wire to 2 prong jumper. And now I have the puter powered up. Next I need a monitor.
