I've installed Carmageddon using this guide: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FS1aKrWB8NQ

As in the guide, I copied over the contents of the disk and created a folder. I got the game to run and install fine, but for some reason everytime I want to play the game I have to reinstall it. Just attempting to play it from the folder leads to it asking me to "Insert Carmageddon CD into Drive", which is a trifle annoying. It also means I can't save my game.

Any help in keeping a permanent install would be most helpful.

Instead of copying the disk contents, why not just try mounting the disc and then installing it through DOSBox?

Also mount the disc every time you play

Youtube has the worst guides ever, BTW. It's often less of a guide and more of a 'plz subscribe im a tenage genius here is free games' kind of thing, though in this case, it's a very misinforming install process

just posting to note that (A) leilei is correct about youtube "retrogamers", (B), carmageddon is awesome, and (C) nice reference to a Spectrum classic in your username...
