Well this is a windows application, the downloadable executable is a (windows)
installer and the extracted program consists of some .dlls
Maybe the company distributes the program in several forms, or the app
used to be DOS but was upgraded.

In other words, I can forget it? But in the DosBox tutorials is said that .exe files could be runned? And when I run it on Windows, Dos is used/opened.

Well .exe can be dos, or windows executables. The latter don't run in dosbox,
because it is only for dos games/apps/whatever. Basically you can forget it,
yes, parallels or qemu or whatever should be suitable for your needs.

It's not a DOS program but a Windows program. Since DOSBox is a DOS emulator it's not likely that it runs. Well, DOSBox does run Windows 3.11 and thus 16bit programs that run under Windows 3.11. But this program comes with a MSI-Installer, that makes it almost certainly a 32bit program, so frankly, no, you can't run it under DOSBox.

And when I run it on Windows, Dos is used/opened.

The Windows command shell is NOT DOS.

sorry to reactivate this thread but if someone want to use this great piece of radar simulation just start the ATCC16.exe inside DosBox - NOT the ATCC.exe. It runs good, also in Win7-64.

Only problem, still, is that I cannot hear any voice if this is checked in the menu. I have tweaked and played with the DosBox config file but had not that luck.

Maybe someone could take a look at it ? Don't Know whats the problem because all other features are active. (ATCC 1.1 by Xavius)

At least with games there often comes an extra executable (setup/install/setsound etc.) where you can configure the sound card.
On DOS PCs you had plenty of different sound hardware so checking an option in a menu often was not enough.

I know but in this case there is not. For this I don't understand. It's the only software in which I can not start the sound and see why is it so.

There is definitiv no setup-option or in-software-menu to tweak something.

Especially I can not understand when it's running in WinXP or Win98, there is absolutely no problem but its nothing more as running in a dosbox under Win. Also in pure DOS there seems not to be a problem.

But under DosBox I cannot figure out why is nothing to hear... Almost every combination in config-file was tested.

Apps aren't officially supported under DOSBox and the devs don't make fixes to make apps work. DOSBox is for games so if you have an app that doesn't work it probably never will unless the fix for the app also fixes a game that is broken and even then you'd have to wait for someone who is having the same issue with a game to report it. DOSBox is not a full DOS implementation, only enough of it to make most games work. Some apps do work, but only if they don't attempt to use functionality that is not currently included in the emulation code. It's possible some future release might fix whatever your problem is but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it.

IIRC Windows XP uses IRQ 5 in NTVDM for SB16 emulation so try changing the IRQ DOSBox uses to 5 instead of 7.

@sliderider: ATCC is a simulation "game", not a app in the direction you think or was written is the first post of this thread. But this simulation is, beside of its "birthday" in 1998, one of the most realistic atc-simulations available in these days. Build to run in DOS, the user was able to install it in Win 98 / WinXP and simulate / play via Windows-dosbox. For this there are 2 .exe files inside the folder: one for starting the dosbox-mode in windows and the other for pure DOS (atcc16).

@DosFreak: tested irq/dma etc. in all variations but without luck. The game react in a very smooth way but without to hear the .wav-soundfiles of the radio transmissions. I thougt it could be a problem of the "speed" in DosBox and tested also in this direction but nothing happened...
