Hi,

I'm trying to load Colonization. Windows wouldn't run it so I am trying DosBox.

I read MiniMax's guide and followed it step by step. (I mounted a new folder on C drive as c and mounted my dvd drive "f:/" as d.

I completed steps 1-4 exactly like he wrote and they went fine. the only change i made was to mount my F drive (my cdrom) instead of D drive.

When I get to step 5 I type install and I get a response back of "The program must be run under microsoft windows".

I've tried different versions of DosBox but that didn't work either.

I would really appreciate any help. Thanks!

If you have the DOS ver of Colonization you should install that in DOSBox.

If you are using the Windows ver of Colonization then you need to install Windows 3.1 in DOSBox and then install Colonization.

IIRC Colonization for Windows is 16bit so if you are using a 64bit ver of Windows then you cannot run it without DOSBox or some other VM software.

Thanks for the quick reply. On the cover of my colonization it says Windows 3.1/95. How do I install Windows 3.1 in DOSBox? thanks!

As usual, but I would move all the content of the W31 floppies into one directory, and would install from there, mounted as (for example) 'w:' drive (no disk swapping neccessary).
