Hmmm....how on earth did I miss this thread? And it's already at page 13!!!

Wow, all these pictures never grow old, even if they are about old stuff. 😁

Let me get back with my pictures....but I don't think I have any new pictures of my old system. There are only old pictures of my old systems and some old pictures of my new systems, but I don't have have any new pictures of my old systems, so I think, I'll post some new pictures of my newly built old systems, which are not actually new but old, but still new because it's not old anymore. 😁

Edit : Didn't realize my post made it to page 14, and I still didn't post any pictures yet! 🤣

Hello,
back again with an update of an old computer with some newly acquired second hand parts.
Some months ago this computer had a an iwill motherboard with a pIII 733 mhz cpu. But for the last six months I had a desire to upgrade the system, into something with a tualatin cpu. (I think the desire started with me joining up to this forum...strange that!) .
Anyway an Abit St6 later I present to you my first p3 tualatin system..
Components are as follows:

Motherboard abit st6
Ram pc133 384 mb to be upgraded to 512 (shortly)
Cpu Pentium 3 1.4 ghz
Cpu heatsink/fan Global win FOP38(with the 60mm delta 6800rpm fan)
Video card Voodoo 5 pci
2 HD 40 gb seagate , 80 gb WD
Soundcard soundblaster pci
Intel 100 mbit nic

Here are the pics:

the board with the intel heatsink(i used the p3 733 mhz heatsink initially but hit cpu temps of 80C within 5 minutes, thats why I use the fop38)

Nice setup! And nice to see V5 PCI (don't have one 🙁 ) 😉

You should consider a front case fan to help cool the V5 😉

Dang..your cases look awesome! I just use cases I happen to bump in to.

Could you please include a pic of the back of the very tall AT case? I'm interested in comparing it with the AT full tower I recently found (though mine looks crappier then yours 😜).

I edited the post and added one of the back side of the case, and put it next to the K6-3 tower for size comparison. Yeah it was already in pretty good condition when I got it, but I put some extra effort in towards making it look a lot better. It took maybe 2 hrs of work to get it looking that good inside and out. I slapped in a 4500 rpm Thermaltake 80mm case fan in the front of the case before I closed it up last nite, so that Pentium 1 cpu will get cooled better. The fan originally in there maybe did 2400 rpm max.

The area above the power supply, where you see that extra spot for another case fan in the back, inside is another hard drive bay area inside the case that can hold 3 more hard drives, for a total of 7 in the case if needed. I'd just have to unscrew the plate thats in place there in the fan slot to keep dust out, add another fan and go. Honestly though, I dont need more then one harddrive in there, not doing any file sharing or anything.

Yup, I can't even remember when the last time was I used 2 harddrives in a single rig.

Btw, did you mod the back of your big case? Theres a black area there, is it removable perhaps?
If you did it yourself, then great stuff!

@Stano:
What OS are you running on your Tualatin rig??

Tetrium,
the OS is windows ME.. just to be different. I had 98se on it before, but I already have that in my p3 450mhz and wanted something different.
I might stick either windows nt or 2000 as a dual boot next..

I actually love ME btw 😉

Tried 98SE once and I just couldn't get used to it and it's own oddnesses.

I basically use ME every time I feel like XP is too much for a rig (or a system has only 64MB or less RAm available, then I'd go 98SE or ever 95).

Actually no its the normal backplate there. Its a darker metal color then the rest of the back, and I guess the pic makes it look even darker over all.

stano, Professor: you guys have some outstanding rigs! Much dual card love goin on here too Tualatin + V5500 combo, Athlon X4 crossfire and FX+ SLI rigs- yummy!

Yeah that FX&Sli combo will actually still handle most any new game released now if I still cared to run Win 7 on it, but I had a few older games that dislike 7, and I needed to have a Xp machine around anyway, so I just have it running XP only. Really the Crossfire setup handles anything new anyway.

Zong, that case. Looks like it's made for warpfactor 9 😁

Is it BTX?
Must've cost a fortune to get. All I use are cheapish second hand beige cases Lol! 😜

it was relatively cheap and I wanted the motherboard to be in a case with a window.
No unfortunately the case is only ATX.

here is another pic this time with window...

although for retro appeal I love my beige cases...pity they are getting harder to come by.

Lets not mention beige DVD drives. Heck, how about the silver ones? 😜

For beige older (but very decent) ATX towers, I like the AOpen ones. Their only drawback is they have those little holes in the back instead of a decent fan opening...but a jigsaw works miracles here 😜

Yes! Obsidian2 X-24! I have one of those. I also have the single board 200SBi with the faster RAM chips. Unfortunately, only one of them came with a Medusa cable and the only place I have found so far that has any old stock on hand wants $140 for them. Not bloody likely.
