I might probably be doing something wrong then. I'm not an expert of MS-DOS commands either...

Could anyone show me the steps done to make the game work?

I tried to mount the hard drive and the game disc via ISO file emulation with an external program, tried to install the game, putting the fix and still nothing. Black screen. 🙁

You need to start DOSBox, and then mount the ISO from within DOSBox. The DOSBox documentation describes how to do that.

I decided to try with a real CD, but it appears that it changes nothing.

I tried too, but it complains that a drive cannot be created. I would quite appreciate that someone could tell me what to do step by step to put the game work in DOSBox, as it was reported here that you guys already menaged to boot it with the patch.

There is probably a "/" in the path (or filename) to, while "/" is the path delimiter for DOSBox, other than Windows, where ":" is.

I didn't even use an ISO, I just extracted the RAR files into a directory, mounted that directory as though it were the CD, installed it, ran it, like this:

if you haven't installed it yet, do this:
mount c: c:\<some directory, eg games>
mount d: <path to CD files> -t cdrom
d:
install

then to play it:
mount c: c:\<some directory, eg games>
mount d: <path to CD files> -t cdrom
c:
cd <directory where you installed Gambys>

while apparently missing the most important one that I mentioned when I first posted: it requires core=normal

Now it booted correctly, thanks!

But still the game seems to not be working 100%, there are blackish screens (where it is suppoused to appear the title screen and the pictures with text about the story. The framerate during gameplay isn't fluid either. I believe that changing cycles do not change a lot the thing. Or do they? Unless I must wait for a new version of the emulator.

sounds like a problem with your configuration, then.
the intro plays completely for me - title, story, credits, tutorial, and the game plays well, too.
I'm using max cycles, everything else is default.

Something really does not match. I am using DOSBox 0.74, I mounted a hard drive, I mounted the CD folder, I did the core=normal thing, I putted the game fix and the game does not fully work 100%. I'm not using any special SVN too by the way. Is there anything you can help me? If it is not asking too much I would like to see a quick video of the fully workable game too.

Sorry for double posting but I finally found out what was the problem.

I somehow forgot to extract into the GAMBYS folder, the ASM file that comes with your executable fix. ^^' My bad.

Now yes, it works in perfection! 😁

I can't believe that all what the game needed was a patch for DOSBox, or else I would have come here a long time ago.

Thank you very much for your help, I'll report this to Luís Peres, the game's original graphical artist. 😀 I'm sure he will be quite pleased!

You helped to brought a part of my childhood back! ^W^
