Greetings Earthlings, 1st post = respect to the crew & posters.

Been using Dosbox for many moons now, without any major problems. Finally something occurred that defeated me....

Recently installed the free version of Daggerfall on my new PC. Tried it before on a laptop without any problems, and so it was on current machine - up to couple of weeks ago. Tried to play it and noticed severe tearing which I`m pretty sure wasn`t there before.

I use this PC for new games as well, and so there`s a lot of installing/uninstalling things and also few different configs in Ati Tray Tools. Rest assured, I tried fiddling with about any possible combo of DosBox/DFend/desktop/AtiTrayTools settings before posting here. Also read most docs/threads on the subject.

My question is: did any of you guys managed to run free Daggerfall on a modern PC through DosBox without tearing/with VSYNC on? I`m just not sure anymore to be honest ...

(Q6660/HD 4870/2GB/XP SP3, latest drivers, D-Fend Rel v 1.1 DosBox v 0.74)

Output, yeah (assume you mean ddraw/opengl/etc). Also double buffer, didn`t help. (Monitor @ 1680x1050 native).

I`m quite dozy by nature and play countless games on various systems so not really sure if it was ok before - maybe I just imagined that vsync on :)
That`s why I`d like to know if anybody remembers how their Daggerfall ran...

Heh, never realized that Daggerfall is such an unknown game. Y`all should try it sometime - ahead of its time, etc.

Turned out it was CPU cycles fault - seems that new version of D-Fend Reloaded I installed sets cycles at Max by default. Somehow this caused the tearing - after reducing to about 55000 it nearly disappeared and the game still runs well.
