Hi everyone 😀

I'm working on TR XP Advanced Installer that may install Tomb Raider Original on Windows 2000/XP systems. The installer uses VDMSound (must be downloaded separately) and Glidos as optional (also separate download). Original Tomb Raider CD is required for installation.

TR XP Advanced Installer may be downloaded from here 😉

Have you seen my installer, available from the "installation" page of the Glidos web site?

It isn't particularly wonderful, but you should make sure that yours does everything mine does at lest as well (which wont be hard).

There's another istaller available at the tombraider chronicles web site.

Hi Glidos 😀

Yes, I have try your installer. However, it doesn't work well on my machine (machine hangs when starting the game) . So, I created the new one which works fine on my PC. The installer is tested on several machines (win2000/xp and 98/me for glidos). It works in most cases (>95%)

Well, the installer at TRC web site is the same as this one 😉

All it does is copy files across. Why the hang? Is there something wrong with the audio config file mine creates?

Anyway, if its the TRC one, I've tried it out and it looks very nice. Much prettier than mine.

I didn't notice: do you do the downloading and installing of the 3dfx tomb.exe, vdmsound, and Glidos? If so that's very nice.

Well, there is no automatic downloading of VDMSound and Glidos software (as you included in your installer), but there are the links to official sites, so the files may be downloaded as well.

Glide version of TOMB.EXE file is included in Installer EXE resource and it's extracted if needed and also copied to C:\TOMBRAID folder

I figure out why it hangs with your installer: HMISET.CFG mostly works with IRQ7, but sometimes IRQ5 is needed (as on my PC). Also, on some graphic cards (including Matrox G400 I had before), it crashes if no fullscreen is used. My installer also creates a PIF file with fullscreen enabled, disables screen-saver and setup the bitmap font only.

If you found it's useful, you may put it to your official site. Software is free for use, of course. If you are interested for source files, please let me know, I may share it if needed (project was created in Borland Delphi 6 Update Pack #2)
