Hello everyone it's nice to meet you all I hope you all are well today or night as the case may be.

I just DL'ed Fountain Of Dreams and I ran the intsall on my HDD and then it asked me for a master dis 1 after it had installed a new folder and what aprees to be the game files and I pressed enter and it said to insert master disk 1 so I pressed enter once more and got the same message.

I fired up my Dosbox and tried to run the FOD.EXE in the newly created Fountain Dir and all I got was a green screen and nothing else I tried to speed up the frame rate but that did not help.

So if any one can help it I would be thankful.

Thank you in advance for taking to time to read and reply to this thread.

Hi Kargan3033,

The solution lies within your own post - you need the "master disk" - meaning that you need to have the original game disks, not copied ones or downloaded ones.

Really Malik then why is it on an abandonware site for download if you can't play the game?

I got the game from MyAbandonware and a french abandonware site and had the same problems with both the install and the FOD.exe

This is one of the reasons why abandonware questions are banned here. Go ask where you downloaded it from and not here. Abandonware is not allowed here...

"Abandonware" isn't actually a legal definition. Legally, there's no such thing. Most all the games on such sites are still under copyright by someone (and thanks to today's crazy copyright laws, probably will be until at least 2050 or more) and can't legally be distributed. It's called Abandonware because the companies/authors have basically abandoned it. Meaning that they no longer sell it, or support it. However, even though the company probably hasn't made any money off it in a decade, they still don't want people to be able to download it for free. Never mind that half the games won't even run on a modern system without a ton of fiddling.

Abandonware is not recognized by the law, only the term of the copyright is. Copyrights usually go for longer than 75 years so you tell me now if it's legal to distribute those games. 2012-75= 1937 so no piece of software released commercially after today's date in 1937 is legal to distribute without the copyright holders consent and since no piece of software dates that far back, that means that NONE OF IT IS LEGAL TO DISTRIBUTE because no piece of commercial software has gone beyond it's copyright term yet. A game released in 1980 will be under copyright until 2055. A game released in 1990 is going to be under copyright until 2065. A game released in 2000 won't become legal to copy until 2075. The abandonware sites are all breaking the law and you are breaking it, too, by downloading from them.

Most of your abandonware sites are located in countries with different laws on copyright or in countries that don't care. Dosbox has to distance itself from any pirated software. Look what happened to Limewire. They don't want some hotshot lawyer to find a way to shut down the site and make Dosbox illegal. If you want the game that bad go use Amazon or Ebay. If you must use abandonware go to their forums and ask them. Most will help you.

I know Wasteland is part of "Interplay's 10 Year Anthology" and "The Ultimate RPG Archives".
Fountain Of Dreams doesn't seem to be available for sale in any form.

This is completely unrelated to dosbox, illegal activity is illegal.
