One thing that could account for the difference is that the Tex developers have been actively making games the past few years, have been at least somewhat active in the Tex fan community during that time, and have designed the bulk of the new Tex game already (from what I understand). Their initial pitch on Kickstarter also looked like they had put a lot more effort into it than the Two Guys.

I read the page but the impression I am getting is that it's just not serious enough IMO. If it's true that they haven't seen each other for 20 years, how much of a "dream" can it really be?

Maybe I have always misunderstood the space quest games. For me it was all about the Sci-Fi and the puzzles and not about the humour. A game like SQ1 or SQ2 with similar graphics is what I would want but it doesn't look like that's what they are doing.
