Here's a strange, unknown type of 3dfx card to me:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/PCI3DFX-6M-3-Dim-Grap … #ht_3875wt_1163

Kind of pricey for a non-Voodoo 5 don'tcha think??

Interesting, I figured something like that as it's lacking the extra port for linking another 2d card. I've never seen one with the chips set up in sockets like that. I wonder if that one has the PCI bus collision and memory issues.

It's a Voodoo Rush.

And to make matters worse, it's a Rush with a MX 2D chip.

The MX was the better 2D chip compared with the ProMotion.

You're wrong, actually. The Alliance Semiconductor chip was better. 3DFX only used the MX because Macronix was the lowest bidder.

I think you mean "faster" when you say the Alliance chip was "better". The AT25 is a bit faster in 2D but it is also more blurry in the output despite its slighly faster RAMDAC (AT25 up to 180MHz, MX at 160MHz). It's the output quality of the MX that makes it better. But all VoodooRush cards are blurry. 3dfx would have done better with a decent 2D chip from S3 or so.

A $60 BIN price is pretty good. They usually sell for over $100. You likely won't ever see it lower than $60 so I'd grab it if I were you. Just make sure the seller isn't milking the buyer for excessive shipping.

If I were a jerk I'd buy that and not pay, just to get his hopes up.

I picked up my Gravis Ultrasound 2.4 a few years ago for about $40, plus shipping. Guess I was lucky!

Can't really call this retro yet, but still. Had a good laugh on this. I actually missed out on a K8WE combo that was going for like 36 bucks a few days ago. Should have jumped on it. Oh well.

Hilarious, the retail board probably didn't cost more than 300 back when it was new.

I dont care about those prices.. I always look over those rediculus prices.. No one is paying those amounts..
I buy also stuff with a` little ` bit higher prices. But i still have a maximum limit.

Nice stuff is hard to get here in the netherlands.. Some have still laying old stuff in houses and then i have some profit when i can buy those thing from people..
Mostly i have to look on ebay, because i havent a other solution.. Most of those old parts are already scrapped, for recycling or just for the gold..
So iam really happy if i can buy something with higher prices.

~ At least it can do black and white~

Apparently 3 of the Tyan S2895 have already been sold at the asking price. People are paying!

Here's something else I just came across:
4GB Apple IBM HDD, sold for $191

I understand that retro rigs are becoming rarer and rarer these days, but come on now, 200 bucks?

Looks like it's in great condition, but still. This rig is nothing special.

Lol, might as well build your own. It's cheaper and you get way better parts 😁

*sigh* I feel old as hell. You know you're not young anymore when a pII 300 is retro.
