I keep getting this error message when trying to install. Can't find this problem addressed anywhere, so apologies if it's already answered. Also, its consistent on both Mac OS and Windows XP. I'm trying to use the __ff.exe file to install. I've had dosbox for, like, 2 days, so I barely know what I'm doing. Maybe I need to find a different CD rip? Many thanks!

We don't support those here.

Well, I bought the game when it came out. My copy has since been since lost, so it's not like I'm stealing it or anything. Just hoping for a nostalgia fix.

It is rather difficult to help you if you can't even say for sure if you have a working CD rip, isn't it?

If you are new to DOSBox, you should start with the 60 Seconds guide.
60 seconds guide to getting your game to run in DOSBox

Dubious legal classifications aside, the trouble in trying to provide support is that we don't know if your download can work. The best we could do is download it from the same source and see if we can reproduce the problem to confirm that it is bad.

Good point. I'll see if I can locate it.

I've directed Dosbox to the folder and tried the TN manual instructions (typing "INSTALL"), and typing just about every file name in the folder ending with .bat and .exe with and without the extension. When I try the __ff.exe, I get the movie error.

What exactly are you typing!?

If you have the game's files as they were on the original CD-ROM, then you will have to mount the folder containing said files as if it was a CD-ROM, and mount another empty directory into which the game will be installed – like it says in that guide I linked to.

Pretty sure I've got that part down. I was doing it slightly different that the quick quide as per some youtube instructions (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vI6buHTnAog), but it seems to be mounting just fine. It's the command to actually get the thing installed that seems to be the problem. The only file I can get to respond is the "uvconfig.exe" file, but the options are all gibberish to me, especially in terms of my mac and its "chipset ID".

I understand if this is not worth your time to investigate. I'm not particularly computer savvy, and I was just wondering if this particular error was a quick fix. No worries.

................ Well aren't we feeling sassy?

My last post was a nice way of saying, if you can't muster a friendly response, please attend to someone that needs your help more than I do.

As it has been said before, WE DON'T SUPPORT CD-RIPs here.
