Did you try the mixer in Windows or just DOS? I had trouble with mixing and turning off the 3d rubbish in DOS, but it worked fine once I'd done it in Windows (3.11)

I got the volume control to work! Finally!!
In the setup program, under SB Mixer, set the SB VOL to 1. Yes, 1. That enables in-game volume control. With volume set at 7 the volume control is disabled and you can only turn sound on or off in-game.
There's a table in the YMF715 datasheet that explains how this works, on page 28.

strange... you using the newest sbmixer and drivers?
