BTW don't know any info source about early matrox - you do? As far as i know matrox were using chips from other chips makers - s3 in early 90's for example. And its hard to find out even card list.
The 3D Graphics Accelerators FAQ has info on some of them (Dynamic Pictures, AccelGraphics).
InfoWorld is often a good source, I think I saw there some info about the early Matroxes. Also finding links to the companies website and looking them up on Wayback Machine is a good idea - this is what usually what works best for me. If you want just the chips, then the early pro cards were often based on Ti 34010, 34020, ACRTC (Hitachi 63484), NEC 7220 and AMD AM95C60 (QPDM, Quad Pixel Dataflow Manager - there is very little info on that one).
