I am using DosBox on OS X, 10.8.
Whenever I type the first letter of a sentence, it turns into a lowercase v.
Weirdly, if I type the first letter capitalized, nothing happens.
It is only the first letter, lowercase, at the beginning of a sentence that turns into v. Anyone know what is going on?

which version of Dosbox? If you are using Boxer you need to contact the boxer author. I cannot reproduce this with the prompt, are you having that problem with a program running in Dosbox?

actually, i figured out. the problem was textexpander, a text expansion program I am running in OS X. I didn't think it would work in Dos, but it does--screwing things up, though. Thanks.
