I tried installing the game through a .ima floppy image (that I mounted with VfD) but it refurses to start because it reports the floppy as missing, even though it's still mounted. I tried to mount the image with DosBox's own image mounter but nothing changed...

Maybe the image is flawed? Use the original floppy 😉

I would if I could. All I have is a copy from a TOSEC set. However you might be on to something, when I look at the mounted image in Windows it has 4 strange directories named in garbled text.

Look for a program called The Patcher v6.5. Whoever put that set together included numerous games that are unplayable due to simular issues.

I was easily able to find it through Google. I won't post the link here (because of copyright issues and whatnot), but it should be pretty easy to find.
