Xwing IRQ 7

I'm running DOS 6.22 and XWing floppy edition.

I have roland scc-1 and SB AWE64 Gold. When I try and run the game with roland and sound blaster I get no sound. It feels like Xwing runs on IRQ 7 by default because if I change my sound blaster to run on IRQ7 instead of IRQ5 the sound works. However, the XWing setup doesn't prompt me for a IRQ to set for my sound blaster.

I need to use IRQ5 because I have my SCC-1 running on IRQ3 but when I run SB's ctcu program it says that there's a conflict between a system driver and the awe64 gold. I'm not exactly sure what it is.

Anyhow, my question, is there a way to hack a config file in XWing so that it uses IRQ5 for sound instead of IRQ7?

It's probably your motherboard's onboard parallel port. If you don't need to print anything from this computer, you can probably disable it in your BIOS. Otherwise, if everything still works when you set it to IRQ7, what does it matter what CTCU says?

Also, did you change your BLASTER environment variable when you tried switching to IRQ 5? Perhaps that is what XWing is reading.

True, I'll disable it. Yes I updated my BLASTER line to show IRQ 5.

I was wrong, I still can't get sound blaster working on XWing. Even if I select just soundblaster pro, no sound plays. I am running dos 6.22 on Pentium II 333 Mhz. I heard that having a fast machine like this one could cause issues. I used the throttle binary to slow it by 88% and still nothing.

Has anybody else gotten this same issue?

I was able to fix it by changing the two DMA settings on the AWE64 GOLD using CTCU. I changed them from 5 and 0 respectively to 1 and 6. Then it worked!!

A little note - the DOS Collector's Edition of X-Wing has better sound setup options.
