Well, I've decided that screwing around trying to build the "perfect" Glide64 rig with an overpowered CPU isn't going to be worth all the time and effort, so here's what I'm thinking of doing instead:
- Dell Dimension 4100 with 256MB SDRAM, 866MHz Pentium III, 20GB hard drive <--- I already own this 🤣
- Soundblaster Live! <--- I own tons of these
- either an AGP Voodoo 3, or 2 Voodoo IIs in SLI paired with a Radeon 9000 series card for 2D and non-glide stuff <---already have a few Radeon 9000 cards
- Windows 2000 SP4 dual booted with Win98SE for games that won't work with Win2k
I think this will work out better for me since I already own most of this stuff. 🤣 Now I just have to get the 3DFX stuff. 😜
Now I'm just wondering, but what advantages are there in running a Voodoo 3 over a pair of Voodoo IIs, and what advantages do the SLI'd Voodoo IIs provide? As well, does the 3DFX version of Carmageddon run well in VDMSound?
