If I have time this weekend I might try to make a quick recording or two with my SC-88.

Some Duke3D recordings would be nice... for particular tracks maybe Grabbag, The City Streets (E1L3) and Gotham (E3L6) 😀

Those sound pretty similar to what I remember on my SC-88, except for a chirping or wood block percussion sound that seems to stick out too much (especially noticeable at the start of the level 1 song).

If you're curious, you might want to try listening to those tracks with your synth in SC-88 and/or SC-55 map modes to see which mode best suits your personal taste.

Oddly enough I would love to hear the OVERSNOW.MID and 10.MID from The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall on an SC-88. I thought those sounded great on my SC-55 but would like to hear if they sound great on an SC-88.

This guy supposedly has SC-88 recordings of the Daggerfall soundtrack, although they sound better than what comes out of my SC-88: http://www.youtube.com/user/DaggerfallUser?feature=watch

Edit: Hmm, the DF MIDIs seem to sound slightly better when I init my SC-88 for GM mode instead of GS mode. They also sound generally better with the SC-55 map mode enabled in my opinion, as they seem to lose some subtle details in SC-88 mode.

They sound amazing, tempted to fork over money sometime to get an SC-88 since it sounds great with orchestral music.

Nice. If you get a chance I would really like to hear a recording of this .mid to see how it compares to the original 😀 it's written specifically for the SC-88 Pro, so it should come out pretty close.

By the way, why aren't MIDIs allowed as attachments?

You can always put them in a zip file, which also saves some storage space and bandwidth for the VOGONS server...

Here you go, recorded on SC-88 Pro:

Sprouting.mp3 (256kbps)
Sprouting.flac

Oh, nice one! Much appreciated. Very similar to the original, of course the SC-88 Pro's instruments sound more realistic...
