Ok! I have windows 7 I am trying to play King's quest 1-7 1984 to 1994 and either the color is glitchy or it will not run it at all. I need help! I was wondering if there was a run-around program I could use to play the games I played as a kid. I am really trying to find someone that knows these programs alot better then myself. 😕

Learn to use Scummvm or DOSBox, buy the games from GoG or find a vintage computer to play on.

You shouldn't be getting that error with the new installers Mr. Collector linked to. Did you follow the instructions..?

Sounds like you tried to run one of the games' executables, not the installer. What version do you have? Is it one of the collections or are they stand alone games?

It is a collection its from 2006 collection pack. Is there a difference?

Yeah, it's using old DOSBox versions that aren't very Windows Vista/7/8 friendly. 0.63 I believe

Did you use the download named "King's Quest Collection (2006)" ? What, exactly, did you do?

You have two options. You can use the original installer and then apply the patch http://sierrahelp.com/Patches-Updates/NewColl … oxUpdaters.html or I recommend the new installer for the collection http://sierrahelp.com/Patches-Updates/NewSier … llers.html#KQC3

The second option is the cleaner solution as it completely bypasses all of the issues with the collection.

it is saying it could harm my computer if it is downloded.

That's the general caution statement. EVERYTHING you download could harm your computer, even those "100% 'tested' spyware free" files found on those bigname download sites.
