The only thing that it lacks is the option to use original controllers...

It's so wonderfully over-engineered. You can tell there's a buttload of work and love in there.

I'm a emulator freak. I just use my pc to emulate all those. No wires. No cartridges to maintain. Doesn't occupy (external) speace. Currently running :

01. Sega Genesis ------------------ via Fusion
02. Sega Saturn ------------------- via SSF
03. Sega Master System ---------- via Fusion
04. Sega GameGear --------------- via Fusion
05. Sega Dreamcast -------------- via nullDC
06. Nintendo NES ----------------- via Nestopia
07. Super Nintendo --------------- via Zsnes
08. Nintendo 64 ------------------- via Project64
09. Nintendo GameCube --------- via Dolphin
10. Nintendo GameBoy ----------- via VisualBoy Advance
11. Nintendo Gameboy Color ---- via VisualBoy Advance
12. Nintendo Gameboy Advance via VisualBoy Advance
13. Sony Playstation ------------- via ePSXe
14. Sony Playstation 2 ----------- via PCSX2
15. CPS1, CPS2, CPS3 ---------- via MAME Plus Plus
16. NeoGeo ---------------------- via MAME Plus Plus
17. Sega Model 2 --------------- via Nebula
18. Sega CD -------------------- via Fusion

Configured properly, the emulators run well. The most power-hungry emulator I have is the PCSX2 which runs PS2 games. Runs God of War 2 and Burnout games well in my Core i7 notebook.

Different emulators work differently in different systems.

Sega Dreamcast emulator, for example, the Chankast is more popular but for me, the nullDC works better.

Of course, the above list didn't include the computer emulators.

Dosbox, of course, is there leading the list. 😁

It depends how much of a stickler you are for accuracy.

There are still today games that Zsnes won't run, for instance. nullDC has lots of games that still have glitches too.

Emulators have their place, but you can't beat real hardware.
