E-mailing a bit with Simon F from the Beyond3D forums (Imagination employee) and got some nice info, don't know if it's any new info though;

Series 1: Midas3, PCX1 (aka MIDAS4), PCX2 (Midas5) the clue is in the name of the sgl dll )
Series 2: ARC1, CLX2 (i.e. Dreamcast, Naomi, Naomi II), PVR250 (i.e Neon250)
Series 3: Kyro family

Hi everyone !
Yesterday, I managed to power up my oldies computer once again (Athlon XP 1600+, 512 Mo SDRAM, Windows ME updated with latest DX9b), and I wanted to bench my 3Dx a bit. I installed the card with the drivers 4.1.2 downloaded on the Vintage Driver Library, everything seemed fine, until I wanted to look at the options in the card's control panel in the Display Properties : I have no control panel ! I uninstalled/reinstalled few times, using my original CD and the 4.1.2, but no change, I still don't have the 3Dx tab. The 3DCC doesn't seems to work either, as even when it has PowerVR checked, the bundled games like Wipeout 2097 still says it doesn't detect the card, whereas games with SGL are working fine (at least, Unreal Tournament is working fine, Quake 2 PVR OpenGL reports an errors saying it can't load in the game's console everytime I try to activate the render).

Anyone may have an idea on this ?

You are using it with a Geforce card? They are not compatible except for SGL titles.

You probably have generic driver, get the Apocalypse one for control panel.

I think he is missing the whole PowerVR tab, not just the advanced settings button.

Yup, that's it, the card is in and functionning with the Aplocalypse 3Dx 4.1.2, but I don't have any PowerVR control panel.

For the main graphic card, I had tried it with Millenium G550, Kyro II and Rage Fury Maxx, each with the same result : nothing for the 3Dx in Display Properties.

Oh, and for Windows ME, it's a clean install from yesterday.

I'd suggest checking PNP Bios settings. There is a bios setting that will prevent the card from being detected, I forgot what though

The card should function fine in Windows ME.

IIRC, PCI/ VGA palette snoop enabled/ disabled in the bios might help... can't remember which... 😒

Saw a non-boxed Hercules 3D prophet a few weeks ago on the flea market. Was in crappy state so i didnt buy it.

I found a Crime Cities BETA 2 demo recently which has a different 1998-dated version of the Techland PowerVR MiniGL. Haven't tried it, though it does include an opengl32.ini for configuration

Lei-Lei, would you like to share it with us? I'd love to give Quake3 a try with it on my Nec PCX1 and compare its performance to the standard Techland one 🤣 😜

Unfortunately the BETA 2 tcpvr driver's worse. It pops up a dialog box for every video mode that didn't go so you have to keep hitting space.

BTW: Colin Mcrae 2.0 works on a PCX1 using the latest reference drivers. Maybe if I could manage to make my GF3 ti500 work again with the PVR hal... would anyone like some pictures? 😀

Have had a similar issue with my matrox powervr card in a abit bx6 R2 motherboard. The only solution was to take out card move it to another pci slot. The card would be detected and drivers instaled. However it was not a permanent solution, as the issue would appear radomly some time later. If any one has a solution that would be great.
I was using the above motherboard a tnt2 video card p3 450 and windows 98se.

Quite ironic, isn't it? Even though they losed back in the 90s against 3Dfx and others, now we can say that their technology was the future. 😀
