Before you ask why I'm posting this question in this section and not one of the technical help sections, it's because it's a gameplay question.

Anyhow, I'm on Mission XII of episode 1, the one where you have to escort a medical convoy using a helicopter, and I keep failing it because those damn vultures just pop out of nowhere and kill off the whole convoy before I can even line up my shots. 🤣 Anyhow, I've noticed that you're still allowed to go back to the hangar and continue the game even after failing this mission, but I wonder, are you even supposed to be able to finish this mission in the first place? I keep redoing this mission over and over in the hopes of actually being able to pass it, but maybe I'm not supposed to. 😜

Having beaten the entire game, I can help you with this one. ;)

Personally, I hate ALL of the helicopter missions. That particular one is a doozy if you "react" to all the stuff going on.

Instead, the only way to win really is to premptively strike everything you can, and then, when all that's left are skids trying to catch up to however many convoys are left, stay on top of those convoys, face backwards, and shoot streams of shots at anything following. So long as ONE makes it out, you're good.

Also, just a word of caution if you're using DOSBox: Episode 3 has AI problems in DOSBox 0.74, so you'll need to use an earlier verison to play it. :P

I remember that mission too. I think I managed to finish it once or twice with one single truck left. It's definitely possible.

A pretty neat game, that TD2192. Apparently some folks quietly got in contact with the creators to get it released as freeware, though it is so obscure I don't think many people particularly cared.

Sounds like something that should be looked into. Is it fixed in SVN?

Thanks. 😁 And yeah, I'll probably have to redownload DosBox 0.73 sometime, because I'm playing the Creative Commons registered freeware version, and even on episode 1 it glitches in certain spots. I even had the game completely crash on me once! 😜

Well, I finally finished mission XII, though now I'm on mission XVI and I can't seem to complete it for some reason.

If I recall, that mission is one of the very few where the full-size map comes in handy to determine which targets need to be destroyed and how soon they'll leave the city boundaries. Save the Vulture-II skids until last, since they aren't trying to escape. Go for the trucks and use the main roads for maximum speed! (And I forget if you're in a skid with afterburnners for the mission or not, but if you are, just hold the button down when on the straight roads!)
