Here are the three I actually use:

For DOS and some early Win9x stuff: The Cardboardpro 4000
PII-300, sometimes underclocked to 133MHz
192MB of EDO (6 SIMMs)
SB AWE64
PCI Radeon 7000
20GB 7200RPM Maxtor HDD
LG CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo
Win 95-B and a rarely used Win2k partition
Cardboard chassis, Cold cathode lamp and side window. Proudly assembled in Canada 😀

For Glide: The trash-picked Dimension T550
PIII-1200 underclocked to 900MHz (OEM SE440BX-3 mobo only supports 100FSB)
384MB PC100
Aureal vortex 2 (SQ2500)
Voodoo3 3000 AGP
40GB IBM HDD
Pioneer DVD-ROM
Win98SE

And for old, yet modern games: The Über PIII
PIII-S 1400 overclocked to 1585/151
1.5GB of SDRAM @ 151/CL2
Radeon 9800 Pro
SB X-Fi
Asus TUV4x board
250GB 7200RPM WD
LG DVD-RW, Gb Ethernet
WinXP Pro SP3

Malik, what a strange combo FDD you have in your 486 system. I saw Epson, Mitsumi and Teac ones, but nothing like yours. What is it?

Also, what Cooler Master case contains your P2 build?

From your criteria, I have 11 cased "retro" systems. Many are still undergoing changes in my persuit for the best maxed-out systems of various eras. EDIT: 12 - Forgot about the long lost SE/30 in a box somewhere.

I had shit ton loads of old systems until mid last year, but currently I have 2 systems meeting your criteria, a Dell Optiplex GX Pro 200mhz and a modded Tualatin @ 1.6ghz running on an 815E board.

They don't get much use as having owned multiples of almost everything built in the last 15+ years, I now just concentrate my money and time on building new rigs.

Sounds interesting, what exactly means "maxed-out system of various eras", mixing old core-hardware with more advanced cards/drives/Peripherals ?.
To me, finding the right mixture/setup takes a while..., lotta unknown conflicts/incompatibilities arise (i.e legacy ISA cards with Apollo chipset). Only trial and error close you to the "best" setup.

Meaning, a system configured with the maximum amount of L2 cache possible, memory possible, best graphics card within the reasonable limit of a user who still might have still upgraded, best CPU of an era, such as a 5x86-133/4x being the best production socket 3 CPU. Best Socket 7-GXM Cyrix motherboard, is another example. Yes, it takes a lot of time due to various instabilities

Im in the middle of getting the hardware I want into my systems but currently my complete systems are:

K6-2 450mhz PC - Gaming PC - Windows 95
Pentium II Slot 1 400mhz PC - Gaming PC - Windows 98
Dell Optiplex GX270 - domain server - Ubuntu 12.04
AM5x86 P75 133 oc to 150mhz - Gaming PC - dos 6.22
Cyrix 5x86 100mhz - Gaming - Testing - Windows 98
Pentium 166mhz - Haven't had a chance to strip it and reconfigure(atx case unfortunately)

I guess that's 6.

Is it retro yet ...its getting old?? -> main PC is an Intel E8500

6

386 DX40 -ISA
AMD 5X86-133 -VLB
Cyrix 5X86-120 -PCI
POD-83 -PCI
Pentium 2 Overdrive 333 -PCI
P3 Tualatin 1400 -AGP

For some reason the idea of a maxed out Super Socket 7 system sounds mighty tempting...

Athlon XP
G4 Powermac x2
PIII 650/440bx x2
Dual PIII IBM Intellistation
266PII/AL440LX w/ Voodoo 2 SLI
P200/430tx
486dx2 66mhz
Tandy 2500SX/20 HD (386)
Tandy 1000TX (286)
Tandy 1000EX(8088)
Generic XT clone
Compaq Portable 8088.

All of these work, and most of them are set up and plugged into a single KVM. And that's just the x86 compatible computers. I've got just as many 8 bit home computers.

I have 5:

486DX2-66 with VLB
5x86-133 with PCI
A Pentium machine that is supposed to work with 75-233 Mhz Pentiums, currently hosting P233MMX @262 Mhz
IBM PC-300PL, a very solid PII-450 machine
Siemens Scenic mobile 360, a Mendocino laptop I currently use the most.

I also have parts for 4-5 more, but I lack cases and PSUs for them. Not looking to buy anything anytime soon - I feel like my retro needs are pretty much covered!
