What's the difference between the 2 versions?

Original one has support for PLG cards version 100.
Version SW1000XG/P has improved circuitry to support PLG version 150 cards.
Either you mod the circuitry or you place a heat sink onto the controller chip.
The P version is modified to support difference in voltages between PLG cards so it doesn't damage the card.

Got a freebie today, a HP Pavillion 7110z along with a retail copy of Diablo! The sad thing is it need two new serial and a new paralel port (rust). The stock Quantum drive is shot(sounds like a bad head/pre-amp) so it might get my 4GB CF card. Doesn't boot for some reason from the optical drive.

I ordered a BUNCH of stuff from this online store. http://www.mpja.com/ it has SO MUCH neat stuff for people who dabble with electronics. the stuff is dirt cheap too! I grabbed one of these:
Hopefully I can plug it into a regular socket on a 486 and not have to bend pins every time I want to test a 486 cpu. For a $1, I cant really go wrong! I also bought the parts to make myself a MT-32 midi cable, and a few new svga patch cables for voodoo cards. I went there for cable parts, and ended up spending $125. 😜 Which means I got this 12V power supply for free: http://www.mpja.com/promotions-es-pr39.asp ^.^
It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

Some recent drool-worthy "investments." 🤣 🤣 🤣
Gonna build a few nice PCI & VLB 486-based systems since I skipped over that generation growing up! Many thanks to FGB for some of the Asus beauties - took awhile to get here (damned customs) but totally worth the wait!

Yes, there's a special postage service called Urgent...ummm...don't remember the exact name. It consists on an agreement between USA and the Spanish postage services. So its actually cheaper to sent a parcel to USA as Urgent than as Regular.
How many days did it take to get there? Just so I have an idea?

Nope. Private seller outside of eBay.

Very nice 486 system by the way. What's that combo FDD model? Looks like an Epson SD-800.

The money being spent on this stuff should be embarrassing, frankly.
Better deals do still exist, if you keep an eye out for them... I'm currently enjoying an SCC-1 card that I picked-up last week for $30. 😀
