Yeah, it's the SB Live! 5.1 Platinum. As for the production year, I found this review from 1999: http://www.hardware-one.com/reviews.asp?aid=104&page=1

The downside is that the seller lost the box (it looks amazing in that review) but well, everything else seems in good condition. He's also sending me a couple of games that came with it, Descent 3 and Thief: The Dark Project.

You use an ribbon cable. I think you can use an classic IDE cable.
All external/internal consoles connect with Ribbon cable when it comes to Live and Audigy 1.

Any >700MHz in there?

Yes, there are from 450mhz up to 733MHz. I keep one for each speed.

Nice. Too bad there's pretty much only one workstation/desktop board that'll run 5/12V Xeons and it's impossible to find.

Crimson Tide - EVGA 1000P2; ASUS Z10PE-D8 WS; 2x E5-2697 v3 14C 3.8 GHz on all cores (All core hack); 64GB Samsung DDR4-2133 ECC
EVGA 1080 Ti FTW3; EVGA 750 Ti SC; Sound Blaster Z

Finding a compatible board wasn't a problem.

That's actually a Rev. 6 CT1350B.

BTW, can you take a look at the manual, other documentation and see if there is any reference to CMS/Gameblaster ?

Nice, I didn't realize that cards not marked with a REV could still be versioned. I'll check the manual..

Thanks!

Another eBay auction - got it from a guy in Germany who didn't speak/write ANY English. Google Translate for the win on that one....

Absolutely nothing about CMS/Gameblaster upgrade in the manual. In fact, most of the manual is for the bundled software.

I just got a Sound Commander FX... i dont know anything about it but seems to work fine as a Sound Blaster clone, maybe the PCM is mixed at too low volume compaerd to FM output though.

Looks like it can be upgraded to become a Sound Blaster PRO clone by adding a second OPL2.
