Need help with another old windows game on Windows 7. Here are my specs:

Toshiba Satellite L755D
Processor: AMD A6-3400M APU with RADEON HD Graphics 1.40GHz
RAM: 4GB
64 Bit Operating System (Windows 7)

The game is Mario Teaches Typing for Windows 95. It is a single-disk installation but I cannot open the INSTALL.EXE file. When I do, I get the following error:

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."

Any way I can get this to work?

Thanks.

Sounds like it has a 16-bit installer. x64 versions of Windows don't support software with 16-bit installers. There are workarounds that you can search the forums for here. I don't know off hand which threads might have the information you need, but it's a topic that comes up more and more frequently as people rediscover the old games again.

You'll either need to:

- Emulate Windows 95 in Virtual PC 2007 with your legal copy of Windows 95 (surely if you have this old game you have an old Windows disc somewhere too?)
- Upgrade to Widows 7 Pro for that Virtual XP stuff for 16-bit
