This being Vogons, I'm betting a lot of us have received some really badly packaged items. Share your experiences here.
Example, just recently I bought an old Athlon XP era Enermax PSU. Lazy seller shipped the thing in a bubble-wrap envelope, which was barely large enough for the PSU. Of course the thing got dropped more than a few times during shipping.
Would have been a solid unit as the caps appeared fine, but the casing was visibly dented on a corner and rattled when moved. Cracked it open and was not able to find the source, most likely a bolt worked loose somewhere. Afraid to test it now as it'll probably release the magic smoke from itself and whatever it's connected to.
Previous to this, I had bought a Dell Precision 620 MT workstation that was shipped only wrapped in a couple layers of bubble and a box. Nothing really there to protect against drops or shock. Hardware appears fine, but the the case is pretty much garbage now. Can't close the side panel and the base plate and front panel are barely attached as they were made entirely from plastic.
I was planning on keeping the machine stock in appearance but now am forced to transplant into a new case. Of course the board and PSU are proprietary... but I enjoy a challenge.
