If you are reading this message, I am looking to get a working copy of the bios from an ATI mach64 VLB video card. PN 109-30100-00 "winturbo"

The card I have will not post in 2 different systems, but has in the past. When I use a post code rader, I get the same errors on both boards. Both boards fail to post at "initialize video rom". Or something to that effect.

Therefore, someway, somehow the eprom I have is faulty or the data contained inside is. I did pop the chip in my reader, and it does read. But this is the only part that i can understand:
1995/3/16 10:51
ATI MACH64, VLB BIOS P/N 113-27803-102
(C) 1988-95, ATI Technologies Inc.BK3.5/1.015MACH64GXVLBUN

I spent several hours combing google and I came up with nothing. If you happen to have a copy of this file (or never) I would be greatly appreciative to get a copy. Thanks!

Did you find a copy? I can probably dump the ROMs on one or both of my cards.

not yet. While you have everything out on the workbench, if you also happen to have the rom for the ISA mach64 that would be great. The one I have has 2 roms (hi/lo) and there is physical damage to the eprom. The card doesn't post, so i'm thinking if I can source a replacement for that card as well, I would be very appreciative.

Okay, I have some time after work today so I'll do my best to take care of it (assuming that I can actually get my system to boot with all these cards). My only remaining true VLB system uses a picky SiS 406/411 chipset.

Here you go. Let me know how this works out for you. I have an ET4000W32P VLB card that is showing the same behaviour, and I suspect a bad ROM.

Would you happen to have a Mach32 VLB you could dump the ROMs from? One of mine stopped booting recently. Not sure what the problem is. It was working not long ago in the same motherboard and another Mach32 VLB card works in it, so it's not a motherboard issue.

I do have a Mach32 VLB. However, you should be aware that there are more ISA and VLB versions of Mach32 than Mach64. My two VLB cards are the full retail VRAM versions. There are also premium and cost reduced DRAM models, as well as several OEM specific models which usually have lower quality RAMDACs. I'm not sure how interchangable the BIOS image is. I'll dump it for you after I get home. I'll put the ISA version up too while I'm at it.

We have a driver database, why can't we get some sort of bios/rom database as well?

Also, AC I love you. I don't know if these are going to work yet, but I wanted to say thanks for trying.

If somebody wants to provide the server space, I will dump every ROM I can.

By the way, here is the image for Mach32. Typo in ROM content description. Should read ATi Mach32 Graphics Ultra Pro ISA

Make a subfolder for graphics card BIOS images please.

I think maybe because manufacturers treat ROM dumps differently from drivers. They release the drivers to the public freely, not so much the ROMs. That was the reason why so many Apple II clone manufacturers were put out of business, for copying Apple's proprietary ROMs.

If it was up to you nothing would ever be around any longer. A company goes bust, bye bye all other hosting of manuals, drivers, roms, SDK's, documentation of old hardware/software on mirrors. You can't seriously compare cloning of newly released products like the Apple II case to dumping ROMs for 20 year old graphic cards. 🤣

Becides, we are talking about the care and restoration of vintage hardware. I highly doubt any of us have the desire, let alone skill to clone a computer.

For the record, I asked ati (now amd) for a replacement bios, it took 3 days of emails just to get them to acknowledge the mach64's existence. Their eyes just glossed over when I explained what I wanted.

*sigh*

vlask and company and their "VGA Legacy" website (http://www.vgamuseum.info) host firmware dumps for many vintage graphics cards, although they are quick to point out that they're dumped by utility to hard drive, and not by ROM programmer.

On it. We've a partial backup of "VGA Legacy" from a few years' ago already, but they're not in the source yet. 😉
