The keyboard doesn´t work at all in this game in DOSBox 0.61 (so it is not possible to save/load or skip video sequences), but otherwise everything seems to work fine. The game was discussed in this thread and eL_PuSHeR mentioned problems with keyboard also in Windows XP. In VPC keyboard works, but sound is stuttering. I´ve tried to change sound card´s IRQ in DOSBox but to no avail. Is there something other I could try to get keyboard working?

Hello, Jiri. Yes, it's a pity because the game runs pretty smooth now under DOSBox 0.61 on my Athlon XP 1800+

Exactly. The speed is impressive, especially for a game with many full screen video sequences, even if they are in low resolution. The game would be most probably perfectly playable in DOSBox without that keyboard problem.

Hi, El Pusher. This should enable the keyboard in Dame in DOSBox (tested with 0.61 official version) 😀 :
Install the game, choose a sound card (I picked out Gravis Ultrasound), then delete or rename wintest.exe from the game directory and copy mem.exe in there (where to find it: XP - C:\WINDOWS\system32; Win 98 - c:/windows/command), rename mem.exe to wintest.exe and run the game. Now the keyboard should work fine. With 9000 cycles is speed perfect on my computer with 2.5 GHz processor. There is also a sound patch that can be found at The Patches Scrolls http://www.patches-scrolls.de/ , but the game seems to work fine without it on my comp.

Good day to you, Jiri.

Thank you very much for your suggestion. I am at work now, but i will test it as soon as i get home.

P.S: I have already patched the game, using the patch you mentioned. 😎

It doesn't work for me. 😠
I get the following error message, both from DOSBox and VDMSound...

Fatal error: Can't spawn WinTest. Code = 1

EDIT: I have reinstalled it and now IT WORKS!!! WOOT!!!!

I haven't patched it yet.

Jiri, you are the man! 😁

I am glad it helped. I will put this info also to the compatibility database - the status of another troublesome game can be changed. 😀

I have this game and experienced the keyboard problem as well. I have used the mem trick mentioned above...and sure enough...it works. Excellent and thanks...

but...the sound...without the mem fix, is fine, but no keyboard.

with the mem fix...the keyboard works, but sound is pauses in playback every three secs or so for about a second. Tried various cpu cycles adjustments...and does not help much.

I am on WinMe...Dosbox 6.1

computer specs here:

Can anyone help me out with this? Tried several different sound configs...no avail...

😀

Nevermind...found out that if I do the mem replacement suggested above and then just ran the program in WinMe...it runs fine. Do not even need Dosbox for this one.

Good to hear you had it fixed. Sound is working quite fine here under DOSBox + Windows XP.
