Well, this is my problem
I've been trying to make the sound of this game play... it can in DOSBox but the game crashes when I reach certain level.
It plays perfectly in Windows98SE emulated in VirtualBox or MS Virtual PC... but I don't have sound in neither of them.
The videos play with sound, and in VirtualPC I have sound in other DOS games, but not in Alien Anarchy... I tried installing the SB16 drivers but still the same.

I'm not talking about the audio tracks in the cd (Which doesn't play neither), i'm talking about sound of enemies or shots, etc... I don't get any sound output in-game.

Any ideas how to solve this?

Does that mean the game doesn't crash in VirtualBox or VirtualPC when you reach the level in question?

Perhaps we can determine the source of the crash in DOSBox. Does any particular error message appear? Have you tried changing the CPU type in the DOSBox.conf?

The game doesn't crash on VIrtualBox nor VirtualPC but I don't have audio in game.

In DOSBox I tried with every CPU and still crashes, I don't receive any error message on console, it just freezes.

I finished the level in question where the game frozed using VirtualBox playing with no sound... then I played from level 5 in DOSBox and it ran OK, but now i'm in the final level and it started to crash again, I think it's because of the version of MSDOS, DOSBox emulates.

I don't know why I don't have any sound output in neither virtual machine.

maybe the sound causes the crashes ?

Indeed, does the game still crash if you turn sound off in the game?

Have you tied the debug-enabled version of DOSBox? Its messages can be more verbose.

I think it's because of the version of MSDOS, DOSBox emulates.

That seems pretty unlikely and I don't know what would make you think that, but you could easily test that by booting MS-DOS in DOSBox using a disk image.

How do I enable debug mode? I searched for the option and I didn't find any.

I heard that DOSBox emulates an old MSDOS version... that's why i thought the problem was in the emulation.

Alien Anarchy doesn't have a SETUP.exe for the Audio... all this is done in-game with an slider which doesn't seems to work.

EDIT: Well I mount FreeDOS on QEMU. There's sound (No music), but it's choppy... like if it were stuttering. Any ideas?

EDIT2: Correction, the whole game is slow on QEMU/.

EDIT 3: Nevermind... I just finished the game.

It is a separate executable included with the SVN Daum version, among others.

And where did you hear that? DOSBox does many things differently from MS-DOS and does not specifically target "an old MSDOS version".

It might have command-line arguments. Try running the main .exe followed by a slash and a question mark (/?) .
