The readme states a P133 and the game comes with DX6. BUT it is on a DVD and takes up 2GB.

Do I have a new / re-released version for older computers?

The full title is Conflict freespace The great war.

Supports Glide and DX. If anyone knows if this game (and how to access it) has a benchmark function built-in please let me know.

Just because DVD's were not commonplace doesn't mean they were not produced.

Here we are in 2002 bitching that DVD's still were not common place:
DVD Games, where art thou?

I also seem to remember Europe producing more DVD game releases than the states.

🤣

Got to grab a DVD drive and check out this game. It mentions videos in the menu and there is an option for interlacing. Fascinating stuff. Couldn't find a resolution option either. Just graphics settings inside the game.

the game is stuck at 640x480
if you get freespace 2 then fs2 open (a sourceport)
then get fsport freespace 1 at any resolution you like with pixel shaders normal maps and tons of awesome

Fixed resolution I see 😀

Ok got a DVD drive from work but we only had SATA. So I used an adapter (same model I'm using for the SATA HDD) and I could play it 😀

Also used this opportunity to install Unreal DVD (it has 4 unreal games on it) and get Unreal Tournament on my retro machine. Another glide benchmark...

You can use nGlide to force Freespace to your desktop resolution, it's also worth mentioning the D3D in Freespace 1 is gimped and is forced to a lower detail mode even despite your settings. Running it in glide mode is the only way to see the full detail that old engine has to offer.

Though if you use nGlide to force scale the game, the fonts will be distorted.

Interesting...

Anyone know if this has a benchmark / timedemo function? I searched online and read the readme but nothing so far...

No benchmark in this game AFAIK. The only "benchmark" is the Setup/"Speed" tab.
