Hi. I'm trying to run Blood under GliDOS 1.28, but am getting the same symptoms described by arnold in his post Blood :: 2003-9-06 @ 02:19 pm.

Essentially the game starts up OK, gets to

Initializing sound system

and then dies, leaving just the GliDOS window.

I got my copy of Blood from Home of the Underdogs, as the source mentioned in the GliDOS documentation (http://www.nestlesux.cjb.net/) is down at present. This may be the problem, as when I run the R1120.exe 3DFX patch it says:

-----------------------------------------------------
- Results of Application of Patch File -
-----------------------------------------------------
File Patches Applied ......................... ( 1)

Files Modified .................. ( 0)

File Patches Ignored: Old Files Missing....... ( 3)
Old Files Invalid....... ( 4)
-----------------------------------------------------
Total File Patches Processed ................. ( 10)
-----------------------------------------------------

which doesn't look right at all.

The game works fine on its own though, using the Creative SB16 Emulation. (It's not at all happy with VDMSound.)

I'm running Windows 98 SE on a 1.4 GHz Athlon with 512MB memory and a 32MB GeForce2 MX. Any help would be more than welcome.

Thanks.

I have got exactly the same problem and as far as I read in this board there isn't any help for that problem. I really would like to buy GliDOS but as long as "Blood: The Whole Unit" isn't supported I have to regret.

Did you try changing the Sound Blaster IRQ from 5 to 7 in the setup program? My copy kept crashing until I changed that.

If you are using VDMSound (and Glidos will make the game use VDMSound if it is installed) then you do want the IRQ to be 7.

On W98 you may be better off uninstalling VDMSound, and setting the IRQ to 5.

Blood is very tempermental. It wont run under W2K, and on my XP machine I always have to start it twice before it will work.
