VOGONS

Greetings. I have downloaded dosbox 0.61 a few months ago and it worked just fine. Until a few days ago that is. Now it always exits right after I open it. I have tried reinstalling it a few times, but this didn't help. According to the two virusscans I ran, there's no virus at work here either. And as far as I know, no significant changes have been made to the computer since I first installed dosbox. Strangely enough, version 0.60 does work when I install it (but it doesn't appear to run the games I played with 0.61, so it would be nice if I could get 0.61 to work again 😀)

The machine is an Intel P4 2.0 GHz, 256 MB ram, GeForce 4 MX video card, and WinXP home as operating system. No hardware has been added, removed or replaced between now and the last time dosbox ran properly.

Thanks in advance. I enjoyed this program very much when it still worked, great job. 😀

Did you change graphic card drivers? DOSBOX 0.61 is very sensitive as far as OpenGL is concerned and since OpenGL is *always* initialized in 0.61 (even if it is not used), problems with OpenGL prevent DOSBOX 0.61 from running (crashes immediately with the infamous message: Segmentation fault. SDL parachute deployed).
This was changed in CVS (OpenGL is initialized only when used), so the next version should not have this problem.

Of course your problems can have completely different cause ...

Hmm... hell may freeze over if I know what happened to those video card drivers, but fiddling a bit with them did fix the problem. Thanks a lot 😀
