I have made it to the end of the "Tomb of Qualopec" (the Sold Out version) starting and restarting about a hundred times, but now I am stuck for good, because the game ALWAYS freezes at the end of the cutscene with Larson and there is just no way to get to the next level, no matter what I try.
I have been wondering about downloading a savegame, but that would only take me to the next level and not solve the problem per se.
I hope, someone will come along with some help soon.
In the meantime don't give up and pleeeaaase let me know, if you find an answer to this problem. I'll do the same 😀

Is it a fairly consistent few minutes, or is it sometime seconds sometimes minutes?

Well, in my case it is pretty much random. Sometimes I can play for minutes and sometimes it freezes again after just a few seconds. And apart from that last bit of "Tomb of Qualopec" (after the cutscene with Larson) it does NOT always freeze in the same place.
Any ideas?

Not that this has any relevence to your problem, but just an interesting similarity in symtoms:

I was in contact with someone who had trouble with Glidos freezing every few minutes. Turned out they had downloaded a hacked (no logo) version of Glidos from a Russian site. Looked as though the hacked version did more than turn off the logo; it looked as though it also installed a virus, or provided a back door via which things could be installed. The freeze was probably to do with some fiddle it was trying to do to the system not working.

Eventually this person found their machine wouldn't boot and had to buy a new BIOS chip to get it going again. Never established the two problems were definitely connected, but its suspicious.

I never downloaded Glidos from anywhere strange, but bought it from your site. ( so that can't be it)
I did not pay too much attention to the "Freezing - pattern", but it definitely happens more often after minutes, than after seconds. But it also has happened that it froze straight after I restarted the game.
So, what now? 😕

I've tried to copy and paste my system specs from my hard drive, but I must be doing something wrong, because it can't paste them here.

To answer your question: No, it has not always done it. I once played the whole game without it ever freezing.
Then, when I wanted to play it again, it ALWAYS got stuck at the end of level 4 (same as now) but without freezing in between.
So I posted a few questions here and at TR forums and was told to reinstall the game, Glidos and VDMSound which I did. And that is when the problem really started and the game literally freezes every few minutes. I also had trouble to get it started at all. (see my earlier post "trouble with TR1" as "guest").
I still managed to make it to the end of level 4 though, but here I am now
stuck for good.
Any ideas?
BTW, your help is really appreciated. I know next to nothing about computers and English isn't my first language, which does not help either.

Two things worth trying.

See if you have nVidia's nView enabled, and turn it off if you do.

Try removing the line "VESASupport: Yes" from the Tomb Raider
section of the glidos.ini file.

Hehe, I got it same as JoJo, even the first contact thingy. I wanna add, there is always a 'read error' message after it freezes. With or without VESA in the .ini. Another problem I have is that the non-default controls I use sometimes after restart have more than one effect, for example, I set space for jump, but she jumps and same time draws her guns.
I reckon this is not a gameplay forum but anyways: Can't she hang to cliffs? That little bit I played I always needed to run-up or at least distance to climb walls. To be exact, I'm at the second door(I guess) in the game, such a bamboo gate. Must be a lever somewhere 😒

The "Read Error" message is from the game trying to communicate with Glidos after it has crashed. But why is it crashing? I have no idea.

What graphics card do you have, and what drivers are you using?

After a crash, before starting Glidos again, you should check that you have no instances of ntvdm.exe left running.

Hello all I habe AMD 1.2ghz Nvidia gForce 4 mx 440 64MB DDR with 1Gbyte Ram, If I use Glidos trial the game works great but with the Damn logo at my front so its not good for playing, if I use other version (i guess its a register one cause it dont asks for Registration the game runs but in a few minuts crashes 😮 i try many things and i dont know how to solve this problem, i dont wanna play with the logo at my front. Why the version of glidos ( full i guess) crashes every time it plays? when i exit to windows a Box about read error appears. any ideias to solve this?

No, you've downloaded the hacked version. There's been no end of trouble with it. It looks like it tries to open a backdoor into your machine. If you download the legitimate copy, you just need to pay the 10$ and then you are logo free, and not taking risks with your computer's wellbeing.

I was told of one case of someone's BIOS being wiped shortly after messing with the hacked verson. May of been a coincidence but I wouldn't want to risk it myself.

Actually, I'd be interested to know where you found this hacked version.

I've downloaded in a russian forum I guess, I don't rembemer the forum link I will try to find again, I didnt knew it was hacked, they didnt say it was 😳 , 10 dollars for the original version is not expensive, but I have 1 problem 🙁 i don't have Credit Card, so How can I pay to be able to play the without the LOgo 😢

IMHO you can negotiate other way of payment with Glidos (to send it directly to his account or in worst case to send money through normal letter).
