Here it is fully patched already: http://dk.toastednet.org/ULTRASND_SLIM.rar

This includes the ULTRASND dir and PATCHES dir. Extract both to C:\. The Patmenu.bat in C:\ULTRASND is setup at install time so if you change paths to something nonstandard you might run into bad command or file name errors. This is v4.11 by the way.

So you wil lhave C:\ULTRASND and C:\PATCHES
Add SET PROPATS=C:\PATCHES to your autoexec.bat and make sure your SET ULTRADIR=C:\ULTRASND and that C:\ULTRASND is in your SET PATH

After that's all set just run patmenu from anywhere and it should work properly. I see my directory i added CRTFIX but may have just been an ftp transfer silly. I don't remember if i had to patch the install for a turbo pascal bug but this one is ready to roll and this is the exact configuration I copy over for all my computers with a GUS. To return to the old patches all you have to do is run PATMENU then hit R.

Cool - I think I'm all set. I ran patmenu and hit 'S' - I assume that's right? Output sounds good!

I would typically use "P" instead for compatibility with 1MB. I ran into a problem I believe with ROTT with missing sounds. For fun, after I set P, I go to I (for drums) then select the TR-909 drum set. Has more of a synthetic feel I enjoy in the games. But, that's all personal preference. 😜

VERY cool. Didn't even realize you could switch the drum kit. Really changes things. Thanks for all the help!

No problem! When you've exhausted all the fun of GUS and games check out the awesome demoscene that went on in the 90s that mainly supported GUS. I have quite a few over at http://dk.toastednet.org/GUS/DEMOS/

Nice collection there! I remember the whole demo scene growing up in the 90s.. I also remember amassing a massive collection of .MOD and .S3M files - I wish I still had those.

I still have my collection of tracker files (some dating back to the time when I bought my GUS ACE). As for PC demos, the appeal is just not there for me - watched a few once then just deleted them. MIDI and tracker music (as well as playing games that support it) is what I use my GUS for 😀

Ooohh, the pain......

thanks for the extra info on patches Maraakate , I have added propats1.61 in my setup along with the DOOM stuff, it really improves the experience 😀

Indeed! I really like the "Power Drum" kit as well. I'm so used to the Roland SC-55 sounds - this is so refreshing!

Allright, that whole gus output volume is ridiculous... 🤣
Both line out and amplified out are not that loud, I feed them directly to my mixer and then to my amplified 2.1 setup like I do with every other device - both SB and midi modules.
It's just not enough, the GUS input on the mixer needs to be 100% while the rest devices on 50-60% ...

So I though that gus-line-out needs a small boost: would a small internal amp like this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390650925582?_trksi … K%3AMEBIDX%3AIT help with the situation?
