I know, I know. But as I was cleaning out my PC for dust, I thought it might be an interesting topic, and whether most of you have a modern PC that you mostly spend your time on.

Here's mine, In a few months I'll be making a new one. I can't play some games that I want to on this spec machine.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Overclocked from 2.2Ghz to 2.7Ghz.
GIGABYTE GA-M57SLI-S4
Gainward GTX 260 - 216 core version.
Kingston DDR2 PC2-6400 800Mhz running at 880Mhz - 2GB of.
A DVD-Rom drive that i've had for over 10 years, a DVD-RW, a 3.5", and a 5.25" floppy drive, I believe the 5.25" is a Mitsubishi.
I also have a safecom 10/100 PCI ethernet, that I used for a while when the onboard had a stint of not working in 2009, i've never bothered to take it out, even though I don't use it anymore (seeing as the onboard works again)

Here are some pics:

DSCF3438.jpg

This is why we should clean out every now and then. Unfortunately, 5.25" floppy drives tend not to have surround protectors on them. I wish they did for the most part, even if it is cool seeing all the stuff at work. 😊

I've got a self built i7-2600K (Oc'd to 4.5 GHz), 16 GB G.Skill DDR3 ram oc'd to whatever the highest clock it supports, a Corsair Hyper Evo 212 cooler, 6TB of HDD space not counting the 256GB SSD I use for the OS drive, an ATI HD7950 lightly overclocked to 1GHz, an Asus P8Z68-V/Gen 3 motherboard, a 700W bronze certified PSU, all stuffed into a cooler master 932 HAF case (and about 5 system fans).

All my older PCs got repurposed and given to kids whose drug addict parents couldn't/wouldn't get them a PC for school work. I need the good karma anyway, so why not? 😀

Ha! Another i7-2600K with 16 GB RAM here.

Radeon HD6770
Audigy whatever
Samsung 840 EVO 256GB SSD
Samsung 1 TB (for temporary stuff, I have a NAS)
Three Samsung DVD/RW drives (for ripping Audio CDs)

Funny how in the 90s/early 00s after three years you had a hopelessly outdated machine. This thing is three years old and it's still very much current.

Phenom II X6 1055T
8GB DDR3 1600MHz
ASUS M5A97 R2.0
Sapphire Dual-X 7950 Boost
Kingston V300 120GB SSD
WD Green 1TB
WD Blue 500GB

I actually used that exact CPU until just over a year ago , it was good, though sadly most games never used 4 cores properly, nevermind 6 . it was really odd how a game like Skyrim just died sometimes due to only being dual core optimized at best (at least from what I noticed) while much prettier games were flying .

anyway, my current PC is as follows

Thermaltake Snow Commander case
Thermaltake smart series 750w PSU
ASUS P8Z77-V LX2 motherboard
i5 3570k
Patriot 8GB DDR3 1866Mhz
1.5TB Samsung HD155UI (a left over from my previous PC)
Gigabyte Geforce 770 2GB (this thing is a beast, big upgrade from the 6870 I had before hand)
SB X-fi Titanium PCIe

OMG I used to have that same case!

Was it Casecom? It was quite cheap but had features of expensive cases like rotated hard drive bays and lots of fans 😀

well, here is a photo of my PC , ignore the mess next to it. To be honest I would prefer to use that Coolermaster Wave case next to it, but given its housing the WinXP machine and the lack of USB3 , I have to stick with the Thermaltake.
