As a collector/enthusiast I must say that I agree and disagree with you at the same time. Let's be honest, most of us buy things to use and not to put them on a shelf for years. Although, it often happens to me when I can't find a particular part to finish my build. I think that eventually any collector will sell at least some of his/her collection. Also, sometimes we buy something and think that we will use it, but we never do or get a chance to do so. Another example is when you don't have a specific part to complete your build. Although I mostly collect items that I'm going to use later on in my future builds and I prefer not to keep something that I will never use. What is really sad and many collectors don't realize is that when they die their relatives will often sell their whole collection for pennies and this is one of the reasons why I try to keep only important items especially when you never know when it's your time to say bye-bye. Then again, may be I am not a collector and just an enthusiast just like 99% of people on this forum. Anyway, sometimes people have reasons to sell. Just a few examples:
1. If a person needs money right away. Let's say to save a loved one's life. ( This is when you actually realize that it's just inanimate objects and they lose value to you )
2. If a person acquires a new/better item and decides to sell an old one. ( For example: an item in brand new condition vs an item in very good condition )
3. If a person has duplicates and decides to sell them in order to get some of his/her money back and get a bit of extra space.
4. If a person runs out of space and decides to sell an unnecessary part of his/her collection.
5. If a specific item is no longer needed because a better one is available. ( I guess you can't really say it about a collector )
6. Wife aggro 😀 but I think it should be OK as long as you spend enough time with your wife.
