Hi!

I wanted to play Z and found the Dosbox somehow. I can start the game and i see the intro, but when I want to start a new game, it crashes and I recieve following message: "Commander Zod shoots Pirates at Dawn".
I read something about "requires protected mode" in the game list, but I don't know how to activate. Could you help me please?

Greetings

The protected mode is implemented, no need to activate anything. Either there is a bug in DOSBOX or there is some copy protection problem with the game.
I do not have it, so it cannot tell more.

Well, know that Z can be played in Windows 95 - ME, but my OS ist Win XP.
If I try to start it in Windows, it crashes after the Redneck's Logoscreen.

well try mounting the cdrom with
mount d d:\ -t cdrom -ioctl
where d:\ is your cdrom drive.
be sure to check the z.bat or so if it's cdrom drive is set to d

Water flows down the stream
How to ask questions the smart way!

Thank you, that's it.
There's no need to type -ioctl, it works fine without.

Well, I've another question on "Z".
How is it possible to play it via LAN? I think I was able to play it under Win 98, but with the Dosbox it thinks theres no connection.
Is it required to load the IPX Protokoll with the Dosbox?

I do not know about Z. But generally for multiplayer in DOSBOX see DOSBOX Guides. But be warned that IPX support is not in 0.61! Wait for the next version or use CVS builds (search if you do not know what CVS is).

I really think you should try to get it to work in windows.
I believe there is a patch for Win98 or higher.

Yeah, I think I'll install a boot manager and Windows 95/98 or ME. Should work there without problems. Last time I played it under 98 it did.
