I think even my PIII BIOS could see 3.3 - 3.6 GB, depending on which grapics card was installed and how many PCI ROM options were set. If all PCI ROM options were disabled and the onboard video was utilised, I recall the BIOS seeing 3.9x GB. I don't understand why these P4 boards are seeing less than a PIII board.

Which P3 board is that? Is it a server/workstation platform?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?It … N82E16813131504 this is the motherboard I use in my media center pc. The bios only sees 3x of my 4gb of ram but Windows 7 sees all 4gb and utilizes the usual amount for 32bit Windows 7.

Buying an 845GV board would be a stupid idea, as it lacks an AGP slot.

What the motherboard I linked on Newegg? #1 if you would have looked a bit closer it is out of stock (and has been for like 8 years) #2 I was just showing what board I use and participating in the discussion of memory issues/quircks. #3 I picked my board up for free and am pretty happy with it. #4 It is an 865GV thus relevant to the discussion on memory issues 😵

Weren't all dual PIII Tualatin boards considered workstation or server class boards? In particular, I was referencing my experience with: SuperMicro P3TDDE, Intel SAI2, and MSI MS-9105.

There was a thread some time ago on this subject. It seems you need SSE2 to get flash acceleration, regardless of which video card you have. I suppose your HD4350 would be fine for a P4 machine.

Yes, generally. I was thinking of my i815 though, which only handles 512MB. 4GB on a P3 is pretty significant. There are server/workstation SuperMicro, Tyan, etc NetBurst boards that will handle well over 4GB of RAM too.
