I've read stories over the years where those things have sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars at auctions. I wouldn't be surprised if if reaches at least $250,000, maybe even more since it's verified as working.

A few weeks ago I was watching an old video clip of Steve Jobs from sometime around 1980. Somebody asked about their upcoming products. This was followed by the question of whether the Apple II would be prone to early obsolescence like the Apple I, and quickly lose software support.

In an effort to reassure people that their investment would not be a waste, Jobs explained that the Apple I's abandonment was a special case, and that owners of the Apple I had been offered a discount on upgrading to the Apple II.

Damn, I feel sorry for the guy who took that deal.

Wow... Just.. Wow.

Reminds me that when I worked for Staples, we had a complete gateway PC new in box that we were forced to destroy in the backstore.
Apparently we couldn't just give it away to a school or poor people. Sigh.

Ok, while I'm not against someone wanting a profit, but do they honestly expect to get $8,814.99 for this?

I've seen the same thing come up 100's of times for less than $20... What makes this one so special?

On one hand, at least you know for sure your DOS/Win95 box would be unique but on the other hand, $500...

While at it, how about an engineering sample 286 for the easy to foot sum of $200?

No idea if this is just a bad page or what, but I found this whopping deal from Office Depot today:
http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/237907/ … -Edition-32GHz/

They have the other two Gallatin models too:
http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/203041/ … Edition-346GHz/
http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/237556/ … Edition-340GHz/

🙄

EDIT

They apparently have all sorts of other ancient stuff at MSRP too:
http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/199702/ … 4GHz-Processor/
http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/848391/ … bile-Processor/

etc

There's this ESS-based isa card that I don't quite understand WHY it's priced so high.
It has an OPL2 chip so it's supposed to be compatible with AdLib but still.
