I'm a bit confused and I don't really know how to use it.
I'm on Windows 2000.

Huh, get the latest 2.1.0ß version. Make sure you are running with administrator rights, install it. Then, when you are going to launch a MS-DOS only program/game, right-click on the executable and choose "Run it with VDMS". From here on, you've got support to midi, adlib, soundblaster, etc... Just make sure to configure the game/app properly to use correct sound settings first (Port, DMAs, IRQs, etc).
I've installed VDMSound 2.1 beta, but can't get it to run. The "Run in VDMSound" option does not appear in my right-click menu when I try to run an .exe file.
Does anyone have suggestions on what to do or who to contact?
Thanks.
It will only appear with DOS executables and .bat files.
I'm having the same problem.
Download and install VDMSound2[1].1.0.exe.
I'm trying to use it with X-Com Apocalypse but none of the .bat or .exe
files have a "run with VDMS" menu item in the context menus.
Had enough now so off to bed - may have more luck tomorrow
Thanx for any help

Did you have administrator rights when you installed it? 😕
before continuing, go in the Start menu and choose "Run", then type:
regsvr32 atl
...then reinstall VDMSound.
V.
I've got the same problem. I installed VDMSound 2.0.4 as Administrator. The "Run with VDMSound" menu appears only for Administrator, but not for any other users.
(I had to install 2.0.4, because 2.1.0b killed Win2k, and I had to re-install the OS. Wouldn't even boot safe mode!)
