Gateworld looks a lot like an Apogee side scroller; did it have anything to do with them?

As far as I know, no. Gateworld was done by some people calling themself "Homebrew Software".

Aaaah so it has to be G.O.R.G by Microforum Int. Never heard of this before, guilty of doing some research on the original (but not stupid image search, I strongly doubt it'd give any results anyway). Interesting retouch if this is the one, apparently they added many things.

Yes, it is G.O.R.G., which adds things like SVGA card support (not hi-res, just compatibility), voice, and some sfx. You can find the name of the game and info about it on the Mobygames entry for Gateworld in a related forum topic.

Another oldie from me them. Again, nothing too obscure, just some games I used to play and felt like showing them once more. XT & CGA power 😀

It's easily recognisable despite the fact that the only version I played was the MSX2 one.

It's the composite artifacting that really brings out the CGA power of that game. 😉
