Funny thing (for me at least) is that the PSU holds up strong with all the stuff,despite being a mid-end Deer/L&C PSU. (LC-C400ATX doesn't ring any bell to everyone?)

I have 2,so:

LC-C400ATX (almost like this except PCB isn't darkened at all,choke and polyprop. cap are replaced with EE-25 trafo and 2 caps)

LC-B400ATX (this one has the PCB made that way,fan's not seized)

Both PSU's are under the "Premier" brand.

Typical cheap Deers, both have the four diode treatment (discrete diodes instead of a rectifier bridge) and little input filtering, the bottom one just one X-cap. The '33' transformers are smallish, 250~300W DC tops.

Have a look at the primary switchers (attached to the primary heatsink behind the big caps). If they are 13007, ~250W DC tops. If 13009, ~300W DC tops.

On the good side both have PI coils on the secondary output filtering, so ripple should be passable provided the caps are not KO.

Beware that DVD drives can draw 20W or more each at startup, x4 = 80W or more just from the DVDs at startup.

Both units were recapped. The former (B400ATX) has UCC KZEs in it,and the latter (C400ATX) has 2 AsiaX caps for the 3.3v and KZEs for the rest.

I meant the AC diodes in the primary, you may be talking about the secondary rectifiers.

8A rated 13007s and 12A rated 13009s are fairly common. In your case you're even worse served, both the 2SC5763 and the 3DD4206 are rated at only 7A. I'd expect both PSUs to bust their main switchers at around 250W DC tops, may be less.

Beware AsiaX craps are as 'reliable' as 'legendary' junk like Fuhjyyu and JungFu. 😵

Isn't Deer/L&C aliases used by Solytech? There's tons of bad reviews for their platforms.

And not a single one of them can actually burn DVDs? DVD burning is quite useful for a P4-era system.

I had to rebuild it yet again,as my old board died (no beeps and/or POST,NB gets INSANELYhot) and I had to get another board,so I thought of going LGA775.

same DVD-ROMs - none burn DVDs,however they burn CDs - I had a TSSTCorp SH-S182D drive,it was poorly made though,it's in the garbage by now.

And this is the build. Currently installing Windows 7 to see how it will perform with a P4 HT.

Also,what benchmarks should I run? 😀
