Nvidia TNT2 M64 clocks?

So I want to benchmark my TNT2 M64 cards and noticed a discrepancy in the clocks I'm seeing compared to Wikipedia / GPUreview.

According to them, the TNT2 M64 has clocks of 125/150, just like the regular TNT2, but with 64 bit memory bus.

I have 3x TNT2 M64 cards, and all of them show 125/143 in Powerstrip or Coolbits.

On the Nvidia site, the TNT2 M64 is listed with half the memory bandwidth as the TNT2, so that would also point to 150 MHz.

ixbtlabs shows a MS-8808 which has the same 125/143 clocks as mine: http://ixbtlabs.com/articles/digest3d/0801/it … eo-tnt2m64.html

So does Techpowerup: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/1304/riva-tnt2-m64.html

Any ideas / thoughts?

These are cheap cards, so it's not a big deal, but just wondering 🤣

I've owned a PCI TNT2 M64 in the past and I'm positive it had a 143MHz memory clock also.

Haha, I remember when I "upgraded" my TNT to TNT2 M64 😁
Then I started being more carefull about my choices 😁

I think we all learnt some "video card buying lesson" at some stage. Mine was to properly read up on any M/LE/SE/XT/XL or whatever other name they come with cards 😀

Mine is 143mhz as well, performs exactly like my TNT1 viper 330 🤣 TNT2 ultra is a beast compared to the m64.

TNT1 was Viper V550. The V330 was Riva128.

The TNT2 M64 is actually a good chip. Some cards come with memory which easily can exceed the poor 14xMHz stock clock and can be rised to a much higher level. The performance of this card really lives by its memory clock so the benchmarks soak up every single Megahertz.

The Pine (XFX) TNT2 M64 I own is clocked at 125 MHz core 143 MHz memory but can do 175 MHz core 185 MHz memoy. 😀

The M64 is perfect for 640*480 gaming using a CRT TV.

New PC: i9 12900K @5GHz all cores @1.2v. MSI PRO Z690-A. 32GB DDR4 3600 CL14. 3070Ti.
Old PC: Dual Xeon X5690@4.6GHz, EVGA SR-2, 48GB DDR3R@2000MHz, Intel X25-M. GTX 980ti.
Older PC: K6-3+ 400@600MHz, PC-Chips M577, 256MB SDRAM, AWE64, Voodoo Banshee.

mine was when I traded my Ti 4200 for an FX 5200 🤣

Usually these cards come with various clocks. I checked most of the more modern cards I own and put the data to tables. About 50% of the cards do not have the default clock rates given by nvidia/wikipedia etc.
The Riva TNT2 M64 I have from MVGA uses 125/143 MHz clocks with 32 MB SDRAM and TV Out.

Thanks everyone, that clears it up!

Good point on the memory overclocking. Seeing the core is identical, the M64 has half the memory bandwidth. So any extra boost on the memory will pay off well 😀
