I am trying to get an SCSI burner running as an CD-Rom reader under MS-DOS-6.22, using the Adaptec 1542-C controller and 50-pin cable.
I just need guidance on how to install the Driver for accesing the CD-Drive under Dos. Everything is set up correctly...
I can lowlevel format HDD's and I can partiotioning them and do a normal "format c: /u/s" and everything just boot's into basic Dos.
I don't think that the controller supports any boot from optical drives, so I must only be missing the MS-Dos-6.22 drivers for this setup.

Controller = ID:7
HDD = ID:0
CD-Burner = ID:1
ZIP-Drive = ID2 + Terminator

Controller is running IRQ-11, DMA-6(7) and I/O-340.

Adaptec retail cards should include drivers on floppy disks. If you have lost yours, the PMC-Sierra site still has good support for Adaptec products:

Thanks. Will have a good look at it, as this is new territory to me.
Used to deal with PATA and SATA only.

Yeah, you need to install the card driver, the cards cdrom driver (both in config.sys) and mscdex driver in autoexec.bat

Yes... All loaded now. I sorted the issue out.

The reason was, that the ISA mem block base or something called that, was not enabled in the BIOS.
I used the EZ SCSI installation kit, wich has all the drivers needed for my setup. 😀
