Yes, you can simply type in whatever amount you want. I noticed quite a few DX 8 games I tested wouldn't even run with only 128 MB.

The same goes for UT 2004.
Loading a map:

General protection fault!

Update on Postal 2. Raising the memory from 128 to 1024 MB got it not crashing. but now it displays a black render screen. i can move round the menus and interact with the game but the screen is just black. fast memory access crashes the game though. My MSI afterburner was displaying "APP: 0.00" instead of "D3D11: 60.0" suggesting that while the game is seeing that it can render things, that dgVoodoo might not be outputting anything.

I got X-Wing from the current Steam sale and noticed a DDraw bug. If you go to the menu by pressing Esc and then return to the game, part of the screen (mostly cockpit and hud) becomes solid black. This happens in D3D and software mode and with both 2.45 and the current WIP. The issue is not present when running the game natively.

Supplement:
Parts of the cockpit reappear when they get updated. So for instance if you transfer power from lasers to shields the laser charge bar and and the shield display show up.

Really strange behaviour in Republic Commando (yes, it's a D3D8 game).

As you know there's a problem with the bumpmapping set to "medium" or "high" with the modern GPU/drivers (and there's a good fix for that, but I'm NOT using the fix, only original files from Steam).....but surprisingly with dgVoodoo there's no crash, loading an old savegame! It works! BUT here's the problems:
SWRepublic_Commando_2015_12_03_18_08_34_485.jpg
SWRepublic_Commando_2015_12_03_18_14_52_070.jpg
*resolution is set to 1920x1080 (see the HUD and AfterBurner OSD) but you can notice how blurred is the 3D scene (and FSAA is OFF in menu options)
*you can notice the lighting system errors (normalmaps/shader-related)
*If you DON'T fire the scene is pitch black (bumpmapping set to High, with medium or low you have the screenshots rendering)

XIII works. I wonder what version of Unreal Engine it is as from reading here newer Unreal Engine games do not work.

Yes...

I'm working on bug fixing but Unreal Engine+DX8 is more tough going than DX7 and below in general, I don't always understand what's wrong even when I see the disassembled game shaders and the complete internal state. 😀

I've already fixed some of the games, Unreal2, UT2004 demo, Postal2 seems to be ok, but bump mapping in Republic Commando is still not perfect.
Deus Ex is a disaster. 🤣

I've been hunting for needles in the haystack in recent days.

About our dear DX2/Thief3, maybe this can help you understand some strange hack used (the game runs in D3D8 but it seems aware of pixel shader 2.0 capabilities of some GPUs):

There are several Vendor sections here, each relating to ATI, Nvidia, Matrox and SiS. Find the relevant section for your graphics card's manufacturer. Under the relevant Vendor section, find your graphics card's specific Device ID line (e.g. 4e48=). To get your particular Device ID, go to Control Panel>Display>Settings>Advanced>Adapter and on the line 'Chip Type' your Device ID should be in brackets after the graphics card type, e.g. 'Chip Type: RADEON 9800 AGP (0x4E48)' which corresponds with the 4e48 device ID line in this section.

Once you've found the right device ID, changing the value after '=' to 0, 1 or 2 determines the type of Pixel Shader support used. 0=Pixel Shader 1.1, 1=Pixel Shader 1.4, and 2=Pixel Shader 2.0. By lowering this value (if above 0), you may gain some FPS at the cost of minimal image quality loss. If you can't find your specific device id, change the value for the 'Other' line under the relevant vendor.

I tested Splinter Cell 2 . Looks good , but when i want to change some settings, like resolution ingame, it's crashing. Beeing a fan of Sc1 and Sc2 i will test this very well.
Many thanks.

EDIT 1: I went to the man site and read the readme. 😀 Hope to see the resolution working back again.
EDIT 1a. SC1 crash. Can see credits and then crashes.

EDIT 2: Here are some SC2 game bugs that i found when i tested Komat wrapper, also happening with yours of course. These are not wrapper related but it would make the game perfect. I would be very grateful if these are going to be fixed.

1.First level, first enemy, while behind him , if you move camera certain way, the shadows on the ground start to disappear.(all platforms have this PC, XBOX classic, PS3)

2. Heat haze is dependent on the resolution(PC only). If i play on 4k for example, the heat haze would be non-existent (but still there).Example here(640x480)
lyWFOaP.png

2a.Indonesia TV station - Middle Rain problem.
Right from the start , drop from the ledge to the ground.
Staying right there if you move the view slowly upwards you'll see that the at one point it doesnt rain any more. No more rain drops on the character. At one point you'll start to see rain drops but they fall only till the middle of the screen.
See here 'middle rain': http://imgur.com/WlEHB1L and here no rain at all : http://imgur.com/qwbixJ6

2b.(this one displays different on every platform.. PC ,PS3,Xbox classic)
Lights on the stage inside tv station display improperly. Also some artifacts on the curtain(behind it).See pic here: http://imgur.com/SwEm3pz.
You can see that the cone of light has other elements in it and also the effect on curtain is the same.
On the ps3 HD edition you cant see the cone of light but has a correct effect on the curtain. See here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utxYI206DyA at 12.53
On the XBOX classic it is just fine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCDXzSAAi0Y&i … 81492B4E3946DA1 starting at 08:17

Maybe you can alter the light sources in this scene to look normal.(i believe xbox it the correct one)

Coming from Komat's wrapper and seeing how well the game renders makes me very happy. By the way, what was the problem with Komat wrapper.? It has some glitches that are beeing seen on other platforms also like PS3. It was strage because if i used a geforce 7 card or lower everything was fine.😀

I began testing SC2. (real testing compared to original footage i have GF4, GF 7, xbox classic)
Here's what i found for the first level.(also take a look at my previous post)

1.Inside the emabassy, main hall, on the wall the is a big spot that appears, dissapears when moving the camera a certain way.(this appears also in other levels but we are not there yet 😉 )

Spot: http://imgur.com/a/6oItS
No spot: http://imgur.com/s493I08

2.After the part where you must stay in the light there is an area where a light appears if are getting closer and disaapears if you going furher away from it.

Light: http://imgur.com/r3woK4d
No light: http://imgur.com/TK0kncb

3. It seems there is a problem with light color. In some area it must be white but it's some kind of rainbow (this is present in Komat wrapper also) in other area there a mixture of yellow and white.(
He said something like this: The color problem seems to be related to precision of the color buffer. The beams are created by many additive layers so even 1/256 delta in one color component will after many additions accumulate to visible difference. Older cards did support HW dithering although I am not sure that it was applicable to 32 bit mode.

To me it's alien language. 😀

Here's what i mean:
original lights: http://imgur.com/O4mFyhf
this version:http://imgur.com/aKcdppg

Stay tuned for level 2. 😀

Level 2 and 3.

Seems that the problems with light color and flashing stuff(walls are the best examples) is general.
Here's some examples:

mavcznd.png
sgPfsRK.png
0Yqr3xA.png

mjQrZyb.png
xnvKfyv.png

Now there is zone where lights go wild when opening a certain door(game bug PC and xbox original. Maybe you can also fix this).
6Bd2iJm.png

Also if you use the mouse to input code there is a shift of the input. You need to press the keys with an offset in order input the code. I think this is because of the wide aspect ratio of my monitor. On a 4:3 is possible not to see this. Is this fixable?

EDIT: I resinstalled SC1 and it didnt crash anymore...much.😀 May be i had some weird settings set.(shadow buffer is set in the ini)
Now if i want to change the video settings like resolution and effects i get a crash. Also the max values of the settings go to Medium. I know for sure that they go all High.

Also there are no shadows, furthermore some parts of the enviroment are not lit and characters are all dark like ninjas. 😀

Thanks. Will try. Seen some other goodies there. Improved textures, cool !
