This is for yanker. I own a pc store and have done the kind of upgrade you are looking for hundreds of times. The best match for you is probably going to be Nvidia based because of its simplicity. Likely an inexpensive fx5200 is your best bet as it wont require you to even worry about the AGP revision/voltage power supply output, and as you said you dont really wanna play shooters. The post mentioning going pci was also wise because the voltages on AGP can be picky and the real world speed loss of pci versus agp on that level of hardware under the kinds of loads you want in neglible. I would stay away from chaintech (sloppy picture quality ghosting etc...) Anything from MSI/Asus/BFG or even Sapphire or even I hate to say (EVGA) well maybe not evga should be fine. Stay away from chaintech and powercolor. jaton is spotty sometimes good sometimes bad over the years. Rosewill and XFX both usually crap. You mentioned something about games doing all their work on the video card....more ram better so on and so on. My advice to you would be a p3-450 and the games it can play PROPERLY are not going to SIGNIFIGANTLY benefit from any new card that you can make play nice in your box. Save your money and love your Voodoo 😀
