My lot that contained the CT1600, Voodoo 3, Quantum3D Raven and a dozen others arrived today. They were kind of all piled together in groups in bubble mailers inside a box, touching each other inside each mailer, but thankfully everything seems to be in good shape. The Quantum 3D card has some scratches on it sadly, but it's not bad.

Does anyone know if there's a way to identify if my Raven PCI was a retail card or one that came from an arcade machine? I've read that the PCI version was often used in arcade machines back in the day.

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

The arcade versions usually don't have the pci bracket but there is no real difference. Just plug it in and install the drivers then play.

HP OEM PCI128 (ES1373). Wanted a green card (yes.. OCD) to match everything else. Didn't like how it sounded compared to the Auzentech I have. So it's shelved for now but, I may use it in a later W98 build or something.

Also picked up a 2GB set of "Gigaram" DDR400. (Sellers picture, not mine since it's already installed)

Got some more stuff today:

Leadtek WinFast 8800GTS 640MB - only reason I bought it is because it's made by leadtek, it works perfectly, it's never been reflowed / reballed and it was dirt cheap. I love Leadtek stuff.

xcKX7oIl.jpg

Krip1TNl.jpg

Socket A AMD761 chipset DDR motherboard -FIC AD11 + Athlon 1333

60T8dj3l.jpg

I got the kit for the CPU mostly - only noticed the motherboard was interesting when I had it in hand - AMD 761NB, VIA VT82C686B SB, DDR + universal AGP. It it had an ISA slot too it would have made the perfect retro socket A board.

Got a package today. Testing the stuff as I am writing this....
So happy with this. BIG thanks.

When everything is tested, I will be cleaning the stuff.
I will be using the ATX and the P-II for a build that I have promised as a price in a retro-competition.

So far, the ET4000 and the controller was not working, yet it does not matter that much.
Stuff won't work untill the end of the world, and I am shure the items has seen good use and brought joy.
The 386 board is the item i like the best. Now I only need a case in order to finalise my collection.

Anyway, here we go... Pic's-O-Rama. 😁

I only need that AT-Case for that 386 machine. Will recieve a compatible soundcard for it too.
Actually. This is my first 386 machine ever, so this is really something special to me.

Sweet stuff.

I think the seller is a Vogons/Amibay member! 😀

I especially like that "Free Computer Technology, Inc. CACHE 486 ISA BABY". That is an awesome name for a motherboard, I bet it wasnt for free though!

brostenen:
about non-working (ISA) stuff. Before declaring them dead, test them in another slot, clean the contacts with rubber, in the end test them in another system. Also check the jumpers if any... It's most probably dead if all this fails 😉

Requests here!

Hmmmm.... Gonna clean it then. It was dead in both the 386 and the 486 board.

Did you get the motherboards working with another ISA video card?

Old ISA motherboards are often very sensitive to what goes into what slot. There is seldom any good explanation to why some cards work in a certain slot and not the one next to it, it's more like magic.

Not sure if this is allowed because it is not really retro hardware, but I decided to invest in some tools I need when working with and restoring retro hardware. Not the top of the line stuff, but it should suffice and I'm excited to do some soldering again (it has been years).

So today I got a new soldering station with various tips, a heated de-soldering pump, de-soldering wick, IC fittings in the Dallas RTC size, battery holders and connectors for 2 penlites and for CR2032, bunch of ESD bags for storage, ESB bracelet, a new multimeter and more.

I plan to remove the soldered on RTC's from my mainboards (I have about 4 to do I think) and remove de remains of barrel batteries on various older boards.

Then I will solder on IC sockets and try and open up the old RTC's and attach new batteries. If this fails I can always get (old) new ones on eBay.

I think most of you have seen these sites on modding the RTC's before:

"Sun Cheer"? That sounds like some bottom-of-the barrel PSU. No idea if it actually is or not though!

Pull it open and post some interior shots in the PSU thread. We'll let you know if it's safe or gutless.
