Hello friends, I'm trying to figure out this rather peculiar thing. I found references online that the latest Shogo patch, version 2.2, included optimizations for 3DNow!. In the readme, I found this passage:

"- Added support for AMD's 3DNow! technology (thanks to Jayeson Lee-Steere
at AMD for helping us implement support). If you have an AMD 3DNow!
compliant CPU, you can enable this feature by selecting d3d3dnow.ren
under the Display button in the Shogo launcher. Enabling this feature
should provide about a 5%-15% speed improvement. NOTE: Enabling this
feature on non-AMD hardware may cause unpredictable results.

NOTE: We will release the d3d3dnow.ren as a separate upgrade patch
shortly after the release of the 2.2 patch. Check the Shogo
website for the most recent info http://www.shogo-mad.com.
"

Now, I can assure you, this d3d3dnow.ren file is nowhere to be found on the zip file that includes the patch. The website referenced there doesn't include anything newer, even at much later dates. On the website FAQ, I found this:

"Q: The 3dnow renderer keeps crashing my system! Why?
A: The 3Dnow renderer that came with some versions of the 2.2 Shogo game CD is extremely buggy and should not be used in the game. We suggest using the Direct3D option and make sure you have the latest drivers for your sound card and your video card, then install either DirectX7 or DirectX7.0a for a better speed increase. You can get the latest version of DirectX7 here.
"

Huh, that sucks. I'm guessing they pulled it after realizing it was unstable? Does anybody have any further info on this? Strangely, I can't find any other mention of this renderer anywhere else online, I'd really like to try this out.

Doing some digging I don't think it was ever out. NOLF distractions i'm assuming (NOLF was getting started after Shogo was done and dusted)

Crap, based on that link it was 100% complete. That glide renderer also looks sweet, too bad it never got released either.

My guess is that because Shogo wasn't exactly a big hit, Monolith just stopped caring and ramped up production on NOLF as leilei suggests. The writing was on the wall actually, since they released the source code and tools used to edit the game just a few days before the 2.2 patch.
